How did her lipstick stay in place.

I'm on holiday and in a small restaurant.
I think the lady is French.
She has just eaten a full meal. And has drunk a couple of glasses of wine.
Her lipstick has not moved and she hasn't redone her lips.
Can't ask as I don't think she speaks English.
What does she do to make it last.

My DD can do this - it involves primer, a long-lasting lip pencil (Huda, I think) followed by Charlotte Tilbury setting spray followed by setting powder. Possibly she then touches up with lip pencil afterwards too - I'll have to ask her!
It lasts overnight if she doesn't take off her makeup.

@Nextdoortomeis mind can certainly do a meal with either Lipcote, which I don't like, or Laura Geller's long lasting lipstick. Generally, I find long lasting lipsticks don't work. I could do with another one, but I don't know what brand to get. I don't like the colours in Laura Geller. Only found one that I liked in the long lasting range.

The way you eat also makes a difference. Oily food, great shovels of it (mmmmm) it’ll last two minutes. Dry food, eaten in little bites carefully, it’ll last all meal.

A combination of layers with various lip products which you probably won’t have the inclination (or money lol) to want to do.

Also, as PP said, the other aspect is food type as nothing will withstand a heavy oily meal especially when you have to physically dab away food from your mouth.

I’m not a lipstick lover but as a heavy eyeliner wearer, Wonderskin eyeliner ( have only tried the black ) does not budge. I use it on my waterline. For top liner, Fenty stays put for me.

I recently bought some of this (different colour - there are lots) because I didn't have my usual MAC one with me.

I am a convert - it stays on forever, I can eat and drink whatever (the MAC one is good with drinks and dry food but anything with fat in it takes it off) and it doesn't budge and I still have perfect bright red lips. One coat lasts ages, two coats lasts basically forever!

I use a lip stain/tint that looks like a lipstick - it doesn't budge or leave any marks on glasses etc

Kylie with the pencil stays on all day, I discovered it during lockdown when face masks were in use

I use Rimmel matt liquid and it stays on all day and through eating.

Some lipsticks have high pigmentation. I find that Dior lipstick or gloss can last me through a couple of hours of drinking.

Lipcote or Maxfactor Lipfinity - lasts from 8am, multiple meals and needs through washing off in the evening else it would last overnight!

Chanel. Doesn’t move. There in the morning if Im entertaining I accidentally sleep in it.

Maybelline 24hr (pp mentioned this upthread) & my newest find is a Jolie Beauty one.

Mine are red but I always make sure that my lips are smooth and use a liner. Then stand around looking like an idiot for a couple of minutes with my mouth ajar and lips not touching until the lipstick is fully dry.

The longest one of those has lasted was 24 hours (I took off the rest of my makeup but wanted to see how the lipstick lasted!)

All need baby lotion or micellar water to be taken off and all 3 have survived food (even curry & pasta dishes) & drinking.

Other lipsticks I usually use a liner, blot with powder & re-coat and finish with lipcote. That seems to work with most.

Maybelline or Wonderblading (the blue one you wipe off). Maybelline looks more of a lipstick, thicker coverage, but you can also feel it more. Wonderblading is a tint. Both last through a meal no problem.

I wore the Maybelline matte ink in bright red to an all day metal concert - I put in on at 8am and took it off at 11.30pm and despite eating, drinking and being in a very sweaty crowd at the front of the stadium it didn’t move at all.
wonder skin eyeliner is fantastic, combined with ELF tubing mascara I similarly had it totally intact at the end of the day

I wear Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink and it stays on throughout a meal.

Do you not find that slightly changes the finish of the lipstick? I used to use it but stopped for that reason.

Mac Matt lipsticks stay on me … even the red …

will order some eyeliner and maybe some lipstick. Any other recommendations?
