Does the name of a perfume ever put you off it?

Would the name of a perfume ever put you off trying it or put you off wearing it even if you actually liked the smell?

I was given a bottle of Insolence by Guerlain some years ago and the name really annoyed me.

It made me feel women wearing it were being compared to a disobedient child.

But maybe it is just me that thinks about the name of a perfume at all.

There was an aftershave called Grey Flannel which when we saw it my family thought hilarious: it sounds like a manky old face flannel left on the side of the washbasin, rather than a gentleman’s high-end suit fabric.

I miss the laughing emoji for things like this!

Must be one of the few who love the smell of Good Girl, but I hate the bottle and the name so only buy a dupe!

Carnal Flower by Frederic Malle. It just makes me think of fannies. I have never wanted to smell it just in case.

What is is with this Fred fella? I went to our local perfumery outlet today and noticed he also has one called Acne Studio. 🫤

I had a sniff of Carnal Flower in your behalf remembering this thread. Quite nice. Smelled flowery. Not of fannies. Unless you have a flowery fanny (not to be confused with a floury fanny)

Good Girl. Sounds like a dog treat. Awful design.

Anything by Charlotte Tilbury. The ads are awful, cringey, and why does she put herself in them? What a massive narcissist. Everything about the brand annoys me, sounds really cheap and faux posh.

Penhaligon's - great names, not impressed by the actual perfumes.

Agree - my favorite perfumes just describe what they are, e.g Guerlain Tobacco & Honey and come in a normal bottle. I don’t like gimicky or attention grabbing “shock value” perfumes or bottles. If it’s good then it shouldn’t need all that drama to sell itself. I also dislike celebrity endorsements!
