Is there a shower gel that moisturises?

I forget to moisturise all the time ( due to a mixture of depression/adhd/possibly autistic) and wondered if there's a shower gel that actually moisturises?

This might be worth a try if you want an additional easy step. I use an avene spray one that I got on Boots £10 Tuesday, which is a pricier option. I'm also AUdHD and forget (or just don't think) of doing lots of things, so spray and go is easier for me.

Also, if you sign up to L'Occitane emails you get 10% off your first order online or instore . I would go into an actual L'Occitane store if you can, they are super helpful and you'll get a few samples to take away.

I got this in the clearance section of boots, you put it on before you get out of the shower then dry as normal. It does leave you really moisturised and doesn’t get on the towel (not sure how!) uk.sanctuary.com/product/sanctuary-spa-signature-collection-wet-skin-miracle-moisturiser/

30 years ago i worked in the beauty industry and was told there is no product that can remove stuff and add it at the same time, and that has always stuck with me. Shower gel/soap are cleansers, cleansers are supposed to remove dirt and grime therefore they are designed to run off the body/face. Moisturiser is supposed to add moisture, therefore, stay on the body/face.

So in answer to your question, I'd say no, however, you can buy stuff that is not as drying to the skin. I found a decent bar soap and turning down the temperature of the shower (I used to like it to almost scald me, now the colder the better, but I"m sure there's a happy medium), means I rarely have to moisturise my body.

QuickPeachPoet · 15/10/2025 15:01

As a tip OP, why not try keeping your moisturiser next to your toothbrush or balanced on tip of your towel?
You won't forget to dry yourself or brush your teeth so this way it will prompt you.

You could also try some of the products that are designed for eczema or very dry skin like Eucerin. They probably would foam and I somehow feel if it isnt foaming then it isnt cleaning but I could be wrong about that. Also just plain glycerine soap has been recommended to me.

Otherwise I wash with a gentle clenser for the foam and then again with a shower oil and dont rinse it off as thoroughly and pat dry.

Dove with Shea butter is nice

Summerhillsquare · 15/10/2025 15:25

Neal's Yard shower oils, natural and smell lush.

Rosebud987 · 15/10/2025 19:04

Any of the bath and bodywork’s moisturising body wash’s! They’re £18 on next but if you’re going to America any time stock up it’s so much cheaper!

geminiflanagan · 15/10/2025 19:18

It is not fancy at all, but this is very nice and soothing, and I always feel the difference afterwards. And a bargain!

I quite like the Method body washes. The coconut one seems ho make my skin soft

Bloozie · 15/10/2025 19:22

The Dove 'Deeply Nourishing' body wash definitely leaves a film on my skin. Regular Nourishing Dove doesn't - you have to look out for the '24 hours moisture' flash on the bottle to tell the difference, it's quite subtle.

Another vote for L'Occitane almond oil. It's utterly lush.

Sanctuary also do a body lotion that you apply to wet skin, while in the shower - it's much faster to apply. Might be worth considering? It's called Wet Skin Miracle Moisturiser, and I use it if I'm in a rush.

I use oilatum in the autumn/winter. It’s lovely

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 15/10/2025 22:15

Sanctuary Spa do a lovely wet skin moisturiser. Wash as usual, don't dry your skin then apply the lovely stuff to wet skin. Takes no time to dry and your skin will smell amazing as well as moisturiser.
Boots sometimes do a Tuesday deal on it or buy the gift pack.
Hope this helps x

ncduetooutingsituation · 15/10/2025 22:24

A bag cheap of Vitamin C powder used as a scrub. I buy 500g bags from Amazon.
L’Occitane Almond, as above.
Your skin will be incredible.

Worriedreparents · 15/10/2025 22:39

Ameliorate body wash is good. Their body lotion is also good and really spreadable so takes seconds to apply, that’s my main criteria as anything difficult to rub in never gets used

I struggle to clean my teeth too, so not sure this will help. I'm usually dressed by the time I do clean them anyway.

Dermol shower. I get it on prescription but think you can buy it.

You can get nice shower oils, these might do the trick. Aldi has an almond one at the moment for a fiver that smells much more expensive

Yes l’occitane shower oil if you can afford to treat yourself is so nice

BreakingBroken · 16/10/2025 00:14

Aveda cherry almond body wash, the body scrub is amazing.

Its due to neurodiversity. I'm the same and struggle to take medication. Everyone says take it first thing when you get up, set an alarm, take it just before bed... none of those things work for me, OP may be similar. It's very difficult to explain to neuro-typical people.
