Looking for the perfect jeans and I need help

Any suggestions please for straight leg, jeans?
I'd like mid to darkish blue (but not indigo), mid or high rise, short inside leg or petite length, need to look good with brown Docs.
I don't want anything too tight on the thigh, not barrell or mom jeans (I'm 5'1" and they do not suit me).
Happy to pay up to £100
So far have tried Next, White Stuff, Fat Face, Boden and M&S with no luck.
Thanks!

New Look have short length jeans.

Twoshoesnewshoes · 27/09/2025 18:09

Zara jeans are great, and have a short leg
also lots of slightly cropped styles which might work?

hidinginthebathroomagain · 27/09/2025 18:10

Try Vinted for oasis Scarlett jeans

unsync · 27/09/2025 18:18

Levi 501s.

ivegotthisyeah · 27/09/2025 18:19

I love Tesco jeans of all places!

DoubtfulCat · 27/09/2025 18:25

Try Levi’s. They do different leg length and several straight leg styles with different rises. I have their 90s 501s (bigger in the thigh than the normal 501, and come to my belly button) and they’re pretty bulletproof. Well worth the money IMO to try different sizes and styles and then they last… mine are on their fourth year now.

Came on to say 501’s ! I prefer the men’s originals

VivaForever81 · 27/09/2025 20:02

I’ve got a few pairs of jeans that I love all from Tkmaxx. You’ll have to go in and look for yourself though, they can be hit and miss.

SurferRona · 27/09/2025 20:22

Levi’s 501s! Shop can help with fit. I would avoid anything with elastane personally if you go elsewhere. I’ve sung their praises before because they are just exceptional quality (better than Levi’s!) but the straight jeans from Community Clothing are incredible and the ethical locally made ethos elevates them further. https://communityclothing.co.uk/collections/womens-jeans/products/womens-straight-leg-high-rise-jeans-blue

They’re nowhere near the top end of your budget, but New Look jeans are pretty good and come in petite lengths. I’m 5’2” and the Adalae petite are perfect.

MunsteadWood · 27/09/2025 20:29

Another vote for Levi’s. I have a pair of their ribcage straight ankle jeans which I love (high waist, straight leg and very slightly tucked in to the ankle) and a pair of the ribcage straight (high waist, straight leg, full length) which I’ve not found myself wearing quite as much but also great. I went into the Levi’s store which I’d really recommend if you can - staff are really helpful and you can try on different sizes / styles / lengths to find the perfect pair.

Try ebay oasis scarlet jeans

I have and/or Venice beach jeans from John Lewis. They are boyfriend jeans and have turn ups so easy to adjust (they also come in a couple of different lengths). They have a bit of stretch in them.

Levis all the way. Ribcage are insanely comfy.

EmmaStone · 28/09/2025 09:34

Yup, Levi’s. 501s are a classic, and bulletproof.

franke · 28/09/2025 09:36

You could have a look at Uniqlo if you are near an actual shop. Iirc they will shorten them for you for free.

TheyCallMeStacey · 28/09/2025 16:52

I have had success with Cos straight leg jeans on Vinted. Have bought two pairs and they are excellent, straight but not skinny, medium rise, I have bought regular length that needed shortening (im 5'4) and ankle length which were perfect.

Dandeliontea123 · 28/09/2025 16:55

I really like my Levi’s 724. They are straight and mid rise. They do have stretch so get more comfortable over time!

I agree. I had completely had enough of guessing and just went to the actual store and they advised me, I tried on 12 pairs and did find the perfect pair - one I never would have chosen on guessing.

AuntyLil · 28/09/2025 19:33

Thanks everyone, have order the Levi 501 crop as the length looks good, and a pair from River Island and from New Look. Fingers crossed one pair looks good

They’re lovely. Chucked a load out a few years back thinking I’d never wear them again but now regret it

AuntyLil · 29/09/2025 19:20

Everything arrived today and it's back to the drawing board as nothing suited - they were all baggy around my bum or had too much material in the thigh. I think I'm looking for the holy grail! Maybe I need something half way between straight leg and slim leg which are not too tight on the thighs and have no stretch. I'm going to have to wait for my returns to be credited to my account and then search some more.

I would honestly recommend going to a Levi’s shop. I never buy jeans online unless I’m buying a style I already have or have tried on, because they are all so individual; it’s really hard to say “oh I’m a 12 in jeans” because some have wider thighs, some are cut better for hips and curvy waists, and others are slender in the thigh or the rise hits you at the wrong spot or whatever.
