Brazilian waxing

I've booked myself in for one on Saturday and was after some advice. I've never had one before but have had my legs waxed ages ago, that wasn't painful.

How much will it hurt and is there anything I can do to make it easier?

Anyone?

yes it will hurt lots.give the area and surrounds a good scrub the night before, trim a little bit off, leave about5 or 6 cms. if hairs are longer it will hurt more.

hopefully you are not pre menstral, i always pop a paracetamol half hour before.

if you chat to the therapist it will distract you from the pain.

dont be shy when they ask you to cock your leg up, i wear a thong for maximum de fuzzing.

good luck

I'd need a general anaesthetic

LavendersBlueDillyDilly · 03/06/2008 12:12

Take nurofen plus first, it really helps. I did this the first time.

That combined with endless chatting with the therapist, I hardly noticed, till I looked down and it was all gone. Literally. A bit of miscommunication I think .

If you have your legs waxed it's not too much worse.

JodieG1 · 03/06/2008 12:12

I'm hoping that after giving birth 3 times I might be more sensitised to pain, blindly hoping hehe.

Thanks, I'll try to remember to take something beforehand, I'm not keen on painkillers though.

glass of wine?

JodieG1 · 03/06/2008 12:16

Hmm, good idea It's a late afternoon appointment as well which seems more acceptable to drink before lol.

I have mine done every 4 weeks along with my eyebrows..

It does hurt but you get used to it.. the only real painful bit is where the skin is thin on the inside of your thigh (if you know where I mean).

where a thong or something that is easy to pull to the sides and when they say pull your skin tight... pull your skin as tight as you can!

JodieG1 · 03/06/2008 13:07

Thanks, I'll make sure to pull my skin tight then. I assume it hurts more if you don't? How long does it usually take?

OP posts:
MascaraOHara · 03/06/2008 13:10

takes 5-10 mins.. so not long, depends how much they have to tweeze. like I say I have mine done regularly so the line is already there.

JodieG1 · 03/06/2008 13:11

That sounds bearable, I'm sure I can manage the pain for that long.

It's fine.. only if they go over the same patch more than once does it make me wince and I am a major wuss..

make sure you look after the area afterwards so you don't go spotty.. I try and body brush every day so I just do there as well.. stops any in-growing hairs etc but any exfoliation will be fine

tootiredtothink · 03/06/2008 14:07

I had mine done this morning - first time ever!

Hurt like hell getting my upper lip threaded (although am used to having it waxed), hurt a fair bit getting my legs waxed but it didn't hurt much getting a brazilian at all - i was just a tad!

JodieG1 · 03/06/2008 14:50

I'm slightly embarrassed too but I'm guessing they've seen it all before hehe.

Thanks for the advice regarding exfoliating, I'll make sure I do that.

I have now had it done 3 times, there's no going back for me! Beautician gets me to take knickers off! I don't find it remotely painful and I have thick, coarse hair. If you get a good beautician, it's not embarassing in the slightest. The girl that does me says she never does the 'old fashioned' waxing anymore, Brazilians are so popular.

MascaraOHara · 03/06/2008 15:04

Oh yes, nothing to be embarrassed abot they have done it all before..

JodieG1 · 07/06/2008 13:19

I'm so nervous now, appt is at 3.45, I hope I don't chicken out lol.

how much is a brazilian? Is that where they just leave a landing strip?

DisplacementActivity · 07/06/2008 13:25

JodieG1 · 07/06/2008 14:01

£15.95 they said and yes just a strip left.

sexandthecitylover · 07/06/2008 14:23

Hmm MOH that's a really good idea to body brush there, hadn't thought of it.

Can you use other exfoliators there? I use gritty type ones on other parts of my body plus body brush.

Now going to extend it to fanjo area

JodieG1 · 07/06/2008 17:01

Well I had it done and it REALLY hurt lol. The top bits were worse than underneath which I was surprised at.

The most embarrassing part was when she got me to turn over and spread my arse cheeks to see if there were any hairs there I was cringing.

I swear I had hair in places I never knew I did! At least it was over fairly quickly.
