Brazilian waxing

I've booked myself in for one on Saturday and was after some advice. I've never had one before but have had my legs waxed ages ago, that wasn't painful.

How much will it hurt and is there anything I can do to make it easier?

Sorry Jodie, but pmsl at that .

Do they remove all the underneath bit, or leave a landing strip there as well?

JodieG1 · 07/06/2008 18:17

Hehe.

All the hair was removed (and I mean all!) except for a small landing strip at the front.

make sure you go somewhere that does lots of bikini waxing (preferably someone recommended to you) - the first time I had mine done it took 35 minutes and was agony. Thought that was normal. Went somewhere else next time and she took an HOUR ffs and I was bleeding like a pig afterwards. Now I knew that wasn't normal!
Next time I found someone who'd been recommended, was in and out in no more than 10 minutes and she was brilliant.
Make sure you tell them exactly how much you want taking off - last time I pulled my knickers down a bit so she could straighten the top off and she whipped the lot off while we were chatting

What's a Bermuda?

JodieG1 · 07/06/2008 18:46

Yeah mine took about 10 mins or so and, even though it hurt, I could tell she was experienced.

I assume a bermuda is where they leave a triangle shape?

Don't worry if it stings for a little while and also if it still looks a bit red for the next day or so.

Mine usually takes about 15 minutes & I pay about £30 but I am very impressed with the salon, it was well recommended & my beautician was saying about all the courses she has been on which is reassuring.

Did you have hot or strip wax?

It isn't as bad the second time!

JodieG1 · 07/06/2008 19:22

It was hot wax spread on and then she put a strip of something over it and pulled it off. I'm glad to hear the second time is better!

It is so much better & less hassle than shaving or faffing about with cream things.

Also it does get less embarrassing each time you go.

Where I go they use chocolate "flavoured" wax ... which is a bit strange. She just puts the wax on & pulls that off where I go. I'm not sure which method hurts less.
