If she gave up the pussy bows and the stilettos, and cut at least 6” off her hair, she’d look years younger.

@KiIIingMeDeftly , @clipboardz That's not even cardboard beige, it's brown envelope beige! I don't think I'll ever be ready for the rehabilitation of the pussy bow, but at least the shirt isn't some flavour of beige.

There are lots of lovely deep red shades around this year and it seemed reasonable to expect Kate to wear some of them but so far she has disappointed.

Yes, found it an entertaining watch. It seems to break into fashion is a long, tricky and expensive process, although she seemed to have success relatively quickly with her makeup line.

Once she became an accepted brand the beauty was easier. If I were 6 inches taller and 3 stone lighter and considerably richer I would try on her clothes.

I actually quite like the coat on Max but it’s the colour underneath that makes me feel a bit ill. Sorry Max, we all love you really but that ensemble crosses the line from outfit to costume for me.

The flowers on the coat are handpainted. It's quite a look, part Joseph son of Jacob, part Prue Leith and part Daisy as pp have said. I think the outfit underneath is fine.

I can't see past the nauseating colours, but I suppose the coat's a good choice for a Design Week engagement (compared and contrast with Kate in her green VB suit and frilly blouse for the British Fashion Awards - or some such event - earlier this year). I do quite like the curved edges, but... they are just reinforcing the bad seventies vibe. At least the ghastly clashing lining isn't visible in the photos of Maxima wearing it.

@Sidebeforeself A lichen print would have really had wow factor, I've taken photographs of old gravestones covered in lichen, just because the collage the lichens made was so beautiful. The edges of the different colours are sharply defined, unlike those vague, blobby flowers and it would be a much more wearable colour scheme!

Oh Max, it's a rare fail for me. The surgical appliance pink jumpsuit is worse the bacterial growth coat!
