Can anyone recommend a good make of comfy shoe that still looks nice? I've tried marks ballet flats after years in New Balance and my heels are shredded:(

Flip-flop ballets look nice but very expensive so I don't want to risk buying them if they rub

I walked 19,000 steps in these, walking all over London on Tuesday. They're brilliant.

I've done 22,500 steps in them today in a very hot and busy Paris. My feet feel great.

I bought some Vivaia flats, they are ridiculously comfy. Lots of people often seem to sell new but much cheaper in Vinted so worth checking on there once you found a style you like. I have the ‘Veronica’

Fitflops. I have rheir ballet flats, loafers and some boots, they are amazing. There's a discount for your first purchase.

The carvela click loafers are incredibly soft and comfortable

I can second these. i had them in three different colours. They last ages and you can replace the inner when they get a bit tatty. Expensive but worth every penny.

Clarks Torhill Rise boots.
They're very comfortable with a thick sole and I think look nice. They also have a removable insoles so I can put my customised ones in.I have these ones plus a khaki variant.

I bought some Vivaia shoes and they came up incredibly small (felt at least a couple of sizes small), did you find the same?

21,000 steps so far today in Paris, in high 20s, low 30s. Still incredibly comfortable and cool too.

Another vote for Sketchers. Very comfy and not too expensive. Around £40 - £90

asparagusffern · 19/09/2025 17:00

Flabelus are without doubt the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn, like walking on clouds. the soles are made from recycled bicycle tyres I believe.

They are velvet so best for summer or indoors in winter, although no reason not to wear them on a dry winters day. I have 3 pairs now, they come in fantastic colour combinations.

DervlaGlass · 19/09/2025 17:20

They're so flipping cute

Sorry to hijack the original question but does anyone have any experience of any of these with flat feet?

FeministThrowingAPrincessParty · 19/09/2025 20:26

Ballet flats provide no support. You need something like a loafer. There are cooler ones than these but you get the idea www.clarks.com/en-gb/zylah-may/26180109-p

NormaSars · 19/09/2025 21:30

@FeministThrowingAPrincessParty , those shoes have no place in Style & Beauty. Smile

LightsDifficulty · 19/09/2025 21:34

I wear Ecco. They have great shoes that look like smart work shoes but are as comfy as trainers. I haven't worn anything else since I was 14 and it's been great. No decisions to make.

All Birds and Vivaia ballet flats are specifically designed to give cushioned support.
