Token present for teenage 'bridesmaids'

TeaChocKitKat · 03/09/2025 14:20

Im actually eloping next spring and we aren't inviting anyone so there won't be any bridesmaids as such. However, between my fiance and I, we have 6 teenage nieces who would have been bridesmaids had we had any. We are conscious that they are missing out so would like to buy them all a little gift for being important to us and as a gesture that they would have been involved in the day if wed done it differently. We will probably give them to them on the day of our party when we get back.
We are thinking of a silver or beaded necklace or bracelet for each of them. Dont want to spend a lot cos there's six of them.
Does anyone have any suggestions for where we could buy them a nice peice of cheap jewellery? They will all be between 14 and 18.
Thanks

I think this is a lovely gesture. When I was a tween (so younger and less emotionally mature than OP's neices, but still) my mums friend told me her daughter was going to ask me to be a bridesmaid at her wedding, but then she chose (quite reasonably!) some of her adult friends. I was devastated. I think it's really thoughtful to acknowledge the girls' role in your lives - but you'll need to think carefully about how you phrase it / present the gifts, so they don't come across as some sort of token consolation prize.
Easy us normally my go-to for nice jewelery.

Some people really can’t help themselves can they. Go to a thread that’s actually asking for your ‘opinions’ instead of ruining one that’s not. Hope you find what you are looking for @TeaChocKitKat

I’ve got some really pretty silver necklaces and earrings from small Etsy shops, for the teen girls in my family.

cannyvalley · 04/09/2025 08:20

For what it’s worth, I think this is a really lovely idea OP x

If you really want to do it, I’d get their initials. A heart is a bit ? and they will all look the same. My DDs wore Tiffany initials but cheaper is available!

I think it’s a lovely gesture! Have you looked at Pandora jewellery?

Obeseandashamed · 04/09/2025 08:31

Also the Swarovski outlet always has nice bits at a very reasonable price. You can ‘shop from home’ with Bicester Village

https://www.etsy.com/uk/search?q=birth+stone+and+name+necklace&ref=search_bar Etsy have some lovely items and reasonably priced. These necklaces you can get customized with their name and/or birthstone, or just pick their favourite colour for the stone.

On average who has 6 teenagers as Bridesmaids ? I don't think they do the girls are not missing out on anything they can be each other's Bridesmaids if they want to get married, do as a pp suggested get them something nice for their 18th and enjoy your wedding.

MiddleAgedDread · 04/09/2025 08:39

The teens I buy for have Pandora charm bracelets which makes Xmas and birthdays easy if I can’t think of anything else!
but I agree they don’t need anything to celebrate your wedding

Is this at all what the OP asked about?
This is becoming more and more prevelant on Mumsnet
and its fucking annoying

My teen dd loves earrings and that may be more do-able within your budget.

Astrid & Miyu have studs around your price point (you can get10% off first purchase with a subscription)

MarmaladeHoverfly · 04/09/2025 09:05

How about a Murano glass bracelet or heart/drop pendant? Lots of colours available, very pretty and inexpensive?

JasonTindallsTan · 04/09/2025 09:14

My DD (22 now but has obvs been a recent teen!) loves Joma bracelets, she has loads of them covering all sorts of occasions. Shes had Abbot Lyon stuff and it has fallen apart repeatedly, they were good at replacing but after the third replacement we couldn’t be arsed to keep sending it back. I think it’s a nice idea.

MizzeryGuts · 04/09/2025 17:04

@MarmaladeHoverfly those are lovely! I think a few people on my Christmas list will be getting those!
