Token present for teenage 'bridesmaids'

TeaChocKitKat · 03/09/2025 14:20

Im actually eloping next spring and we aren't inviting anyone so there won't be any bridesmaids as such. However, between my fiance and I, we have 6 teenage nieces who would have been bridesmaids had we had any. We are conscious that they are missing out so would like to buy them all a little gift for being important to us and as a gesture that they would have been involved in the day if wed done it differently. We will probably give them to them on the day of our party when we get back.
We are thinking of a silver or beaded necklace or bracelet for each of them. Dont want to spend a lot cos there's six of them.
Does anyone have any suggestions for where we could buy them a nice peice of cheap jewellery? They will all be between 14 and 18.
Thanks

Seems a shame you aren't getting suggestions from people more qualified than me and I've no idea what price you have in mind, but if you think your not-bridesmaids would appreciate a (mostly marine themed - shell, starfish, seahorse, puffin) pendant then take a look at fluke jewellery.

Pendants - Fluke Jewellery

Fluke Jewellery Pendants. Created by hand from design to finished piece, in a small workshop in Burray, Orkney

What flowers are you having for your boquet OP? For example, Sunflowers-buy them all silver sunflower necklaces

Oh my god - OP, how are you not telling these rude twats to fuck off? You’ve asked a specific question and you’re getting a load of unasked for and unwanted opinions: are some people weird? And hard of reading

Have a look at Muru - well priced and meaningful jewellery that doesn’t tarnish

Cos i know how mumsnet goes and I'll end up getting slagged off for being rude. I really did think id just get helpful suggestions here in style and beauty though. I guess I should be grateful Im not being criticised for eloping but if I hadn't said that, I thought Id get moaned at for having 6 bridesmaids and I wanted to say how many there were so people understand that Im on a pretty low budget.
There are particular reasons why we want to do something nice for the girls but they really shouldn't be relevant on style and beauty!
I just came here for some shopping advice 😟

Silver Rain is a good site.

You so do not need to do this. You are setting a fantastic example of not needing the trappings of a wedding.

She so does...because THAT'S what she wants to do

TheBeaTgoeson1 · 03/09/2025 19:38

Hello 👋 Lovely, but I still have an opinion. Cheers.

BeaLola · 03/09/2025 19:38

Some great suggestions already

If you're not on it you could join the Christmas Bargains thread as a good offer on jewellery that is suitable may come up ?

I think the idea of having a group photo at party with all 6 girls and you and then DH a very lovely one

You could look at Dower & Hall as whilst outside your range they often do good sales and as you don't need them to next spring you could get later in this year or early 2026

I actually am of the same opinion as everyone else. I wouldn’t buy anything, it’s even more of an insult that they aren’t. Don’t feel bad, you can’t buy them bridesmaid gifts and not actually ask them or have them as bridesmaids.

Doggymummar · 03/09/2025 19:45

Ive thought about it, and jewllry is so personal and not knowing them I dont think I can recommend anything. Would something like a silver thimble engraved with the wedding date work?

WildCherryBlossom · 03/09/2025 19:48

These initial necklaces from Hurley Burley are very pretty, well made and well priced. One of my DDs has one and we have given them to several of her friends.

Boho Moon do some lovely stainless steel jewellery. Also Soul Analyse do similar and they have a £10 sale on at the moment I believe. I’ve got a couple of pieces from them and they are gorgeous and I always get a compliment.

Not for teenage girls, no.

Sorry about the blurb added at the beginning, it wouldn’t let me edit it out.

But she didn't ask for an opinion on whether to buy or not
She asked for ideas on gifts

TheBeaTgoeson1 · 03/09/2025 20:01

🙄

Kingsleadhat · 03/09/2025 20:09

I think you sound like an incredibly thoughtful auntie and I'm sure your nieces love you and will really appreciate the gesture. Congrats on your upcoming marriage and have a wonderful party

EdnaBeveridge · 03/09/2025 20:18

@roobyred I know!!
All this 'I'm allowed an opinion'
There is no opinion to be had because the OP didn't ask lol

geminiflanagan · 03/09/2025 20:21

Last time I was a bridesmaid, i was given a beautiful sterling silver bracelet. Turns out it was actually from Argos - very unexpected, would never have known it was there. I think it was around £25-£30 perfect for a token gift. Its lovely, and I wear it years later.

TeaChocKitKat · 03/09/2025 14:39

TBF, one of the MANY reasons we are eloping is cos I dont want 6 bridesmaids!!

I just feel a bad for them. We aren't bothering with all of the other trappings (wedding cake etc). It's going to be a cheesy disco and a hot buffet for the party with a couple of toasts to start

Seriously the only part of “ a wedding” that’s relevant to young people is the fun on the day.
meeting bonkers family, stupid dance , weird food whatever.
Gifts are pointless. No one sees your wedding ad you do .
