Are heels a no no these days?

Bought this gorgeous and sooo flattering jumpsuit from Mango. In the sale!

The legs are on the long side, so I’m considering buying heels, rather than hemming!

But are heels totally OUT these days? They make such a nice line with long trousers, and I love the extra height. (This is probably an even worse crime: I quite like a small platform as well, for even more height!).

What do you think? Maybe a metallic court shoe? Or should I go with flats and hem the trousers?

I just think you should wear what makes you happy. If you feel good in a heel, wear a heel, that’s my philosophy!

Silverbirchleaf · 27/08/2025 23:59

Shoos etc are selling them plenty.

Gettingbysomehow · 28/08/2025 00:13

Wear the heels. I wish I still could but I'd die.

henlake7 · 28/08/2025 10:59

I dont think heels are the popular choice these days (thank god comfort is more important to trendy young things these days!)....
having said that I dont think they are unfashionable either. You would look very glam and put together with that jumpsuit and some heels IMO.

MeetTheGrahams · 28/08/2025 11:00

If you can cope with an evening on heels do it.

Vitriolinsanity · 28/08/2025 11:47

I’m a constant visitor to the Esska site. Their sandals are absolutely gorgeous.

trainedopossum · 28/08/2025 11:58

My reservation would be that this is just the sort of hem that you catch your heel in and almost (or actually) faceplant. Ask me how I know 😬

Obeseandashamed · 28/08/2025 13:45

I’m often in awe of people who can wear heels and make it look effortless! I don’t think they’re out of fashion, I just think there is no longer an unwritten rule that women ‘should’ wear them. At work, we were expected to wear heels for court and meetings so we would all keep a pair under our desks. These days nobody bothers except the one lady who genuinely enjoys wearing heels and feels odd without height ☺️

It is a lovely jumpsuit OP. Don't know answer to heel question as I never wear them.

I KNOW!! I’m not even a Vegan, but feel I’d look fabulous and ethical simultaneously!!!!

I’m wearing Air and Grace wedge espadrilles today and have a few pairs of Esska heels. I love them!

LlynTegid · 28/08/2025 18:19

I'm pleased that it can be a choice not to wear them, indeed when a young woman was expected to wear them at a workplace, would have supported a law enabling her not to do so.

If you like them, your choice should be respected.

mumzof4x · 28/08/2025 18:26

Wear what YOU feel good in not what fashion suggests you follow. Do people really do this?

I would love to know if any of their range is comfy and easy to walk in for an ageing overweight wide footed person who doesn't do heels normally as they look gorgeous

Game0fCrones · 28/08/2025 18:32

A couple of the 'young uns' at my office have been wearing heels and pencil skirts this week, I was quite surprised but apparently they're back in fashion.

I have These & These both extremely comfortable.
I lust over the Valerie high sandals but can’t wear any heels at all.

I just came on to say I absolutely love your jumpsuit and I agree wear the shoes you enjoy !

theriseandfallofFranklinSaint · 28/08/2025 21:29

I thought heels were out and TBHhave worn trainers or wedges for the last couple of years. However I put on a pair of high chunky heels with a dress the other week for DS's Graduation and felt fabulous so I'd say, embrace the heel! 😎

BrunchBarBandit · 28/08/2025 21:33

I sense that heels are on the way back in

You’ll be cutting edge

Floisme · 29/08/2025 07:18

I’m noticing more and more heels but mainly low-ish and blocky, both with and without platforms. Also kitten heels. No sign of any court shoes.

Esska sandals are the only heels I can walk in these days. I was recently a bridesmaid at the grand old age of 51, and I wore my Esska heels for something like 8 hours straight. Unheard of.

And I’m a stone overweight, if it helps!

SoScarletItWas · 29/08/2025 07:24

Court shoe stiletto type heels (which wouldn’t go with your fab new jumpsuit anyway) are the ones which seem dated now.

I think your jumpsuit is versatile and can see it in winter with a polo neck underneath and block heel boots for the height you want.

I’ve had a pair of Esska gold sandals on my wish list for about 5 years. One day I will just buy the damn sandals…
