Annual Style and Beauty Advent Calendar discussion thread. First AC reveal this year was 23rd June. First luxury reveal was 2nd July.

Thread 1: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5360770-2025-style-and-beauty-advent-calendar-discussion

Thread 2: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5388836-2025-style-and-beauty-advent-calendar-discussion-spoilers-thread-2

The regulars on the thread mainly discuss luxury BAC and this dies down by September when everyone has purchased and forgotten the contents. Then it goes into discussion on what’s selling out, what hasn’t and what deals and discounts to be had on ACs in the lead up to December. Then in December we move onto AC opening threads!

There’s a separate thread for GWP, discounts and other deals here: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5338957-beauty-chat-freebiesgifts-with-purchaseoffers-thread-three

A thread for the Liberty Beauty Drop here: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5253698-liberty-beauty-drop-spoiler-from-the-despatch-date-part-9

Where can I see a full list of glossybox contents? I can only see four things .

Housewife2010 · 31/08/2025 11:55

Beauty Detective has more OK spoilers.

MrsBnow12 · 31/08/2025 11:58

@Addictedtobeauty It is a rolling subscription, so you can sign up for a minimum one month, if you sign up today you will get August so would essentially be two months, other option is to sign up tomorrow.

Addictedtobeauty · 31/08/2025 12:02

The Boots recycle scheme is really easy to use @Makehaysunshine . As Ova says, download the Boots Recycle app and upload pictures of the things you want to recycle. Every five items are worth £5 of points when you bring them in your the recycle bin in store. You get a voucher to redeem the points when you spend £10, Sample sachets count as five sachets is one item. Most things are single items count as one item. I was daunted before I did it, now it’s second nature. I have an old make up bag that sits in the bathroom for empties and have tried to train everyone to put their stuff in there. It mostly works. The app will approve or reject items usually in a day or two. It’s easier than it sounds!

Addictedtobeauty · 31/08/2025 12:04

@Makehaysunshine there are unboxings on You Tube.

MrsBnow12 · 31/08/2025 12:05

@MakehaysunshineThere are two YouTube videos ( Miss Boux and Eltoria) but not sure I have seen a proper contents list.
I preferred the Miss Boux unboxing and she swatched most of the makeup and details sizes etc

Thanks, that so helpful. I have hundreds of empty jars and bottles. I see J Lewis also has a scheme .

Hi, just be careful with GB subscription- I had a dreadful time trying to cancel and I don’t think they would have let me escape if I hadn’t paid with PP so they didn’t have my cc details.

Basically, I signed up for a one month box, but they defaulted me to a rolling subscription. It was extremely stressful and I have been boycotting them ever since, (not that they will have noticed 😹)

SmashingGemini · 31/08/2025 12:26

Glossybox full content list is on Beauty Detective.

I'm signed up to the OK calendar list, but I haven't received anything. Hope I still get the discount.

Check your spam folder, mine went there.

https://beauty-detective.com/ok-beauty-box-advent-calendar-2025/

The spoilers on the email were very tempting. Having seen the whole list I'm less convinced. For me it's now between OK, LF and Sephora. Sephora is obviously a much higher price point so I'm leaning towards one of the first two.

OK! Beauty Box Advent Calendar 2025

The waiting list for the OK! Beauty Box Advent Calendar 2025 (worth over £600) is open now. Priced at £99, or £85 if you join the waitlist. The calendar includes 30 products, with 19 of them being full-sized. Launch date: 01/09. What’s inside (accordin...

Thank you. I did. It wasn't there.

The Lookfantastic contents are links are on their site now, ordering is available from tomorrow.
No details on any subscriber discounts unless I have missed them.

It costs £13.50 to sign up for a month for a £15 discount off the advent .I don’t think it’s worth the hassle if it’s difficult to cancel. I don’t want their box for this month particularly. I do think the contents of the calendar look great.

IlovePond · 31/08/2025 13:40

Hi,
Clinique at Boots have a good GWP with two purchases, one to be foundation. Would make a good present for someone or a useful addition to a DIY advent calendar.

Doubleraspberry · 31/08/2025 13:40

I didn’t mind signing up last year as the boxes were a Christmas present for DD. She’s enjoyed them all year so it’s been fine. I wouldn’t want them for myself though.

Agree with PP, be very wary as they purposely make it look like it’s a one off “one month” as if it will automatically stop . It’s actually a rolling subscription that intends to charge you £13.99 a month. I had presumed it was a one off and when I saw the second £13.99 was due it was too late to cancel , which is presumably their plan.
Then to actually cancel it is almost impossible to find any information on their site / FAQ/ customer service section on how to do this ! It was beyond frustrating

diamondsandrose · 31/08/2025 13:56

Having said that , I do like their advent ! It’s surprisingly good given the boxes are not to my taste . I’ll use the influencer code. Swithering between OK and GB now for my second box

RainbowZebraWarrior · 31/08/2025 14:13

Argh! I'm trying to get my head straight with tomorrow being Sept 1st and pin down my definite choices. The email inbox is buzzing with reminders, so I've just fonw back to look at the LF Fragrance full list. I was so totally sold on this and now all I'm seeing is a load of samples, two candles and a Jo Malone Fragrance I'm not even that fond of.

Need to make yet another list

owlexpress · 31/08/2025 14:58

@RainbowZebraWarrior I was baffled by the love for the LF Fragrance, I don't see the appeal! Better to realise now than after you order though. I am also less impressed with LF (beauty) than when the contents were leaked recently. A cooling off period really does make a difference.

The good news is that from "spring" 2026, anyone signing up for a subscription online will have to be able to cancel it online. I say "spring" because the government hasn't said the exact date yet. No good for this year as it only applies to new subscriptions, but will be for next year.

MidnightMeltdown · 31/08/2025 15:03

TrappedPotato · 31/08/2025 09:57

Glossybox looks great. I was going to get two advents this year but now I’m considering signing up to Glossybox and getting a box a month as my second ‘calendar’. Does anyone know if you still get the discount and early access if you sign up today?

I think Glossybox is definitely the best of the more budget calendars this year. I’ve never been interested in it before as I always thought that it was more aimed at teens, but it’s some interesting products this year that I wouldn’t mind trying. I totally shouldn’t buy another calendar though 🙈

I’m also now less convinced by LF fragrance. I was being swayed entirely by the full size Jo Malone and I don’t even know what it smells like! I think I will hang fire on this one and hope Space NK release their fragrance contents soon.

IlovePond · 31/08/2025 15:25

I have sprayed myself a few times over the last few days with the JM sea salt. It’s ok, but I can’t really smell it much on my skin - which is really weird!

I am now on the fence re: LF fragrance…

Meanwhile, I got a couple of good deal/reduced items for my DIY a/c from allbeauty.com - I always forget to look on there, but they have some good reductions at times, (and this was one of them!)

IlovePond · 31/08/2025 15:31

I have been watching unboxings and then looking to see if I can buy items that I fancy reduced. I haven’t had any luck so far with eBay, (not on Vinted), but have found a few reduced items on various beauty websites.

For example: I found a mini Centrella cleansing oil reduced at allbeauty.com, scored the Gisou lip oil from Harrods for £4.40, (after spending my surprise £10 reward points), and have ordered the mini Tir Tir lip tint from Boots after I saw it online, (maybe in the Beauty Bay a/c).

Re: Boots

Hats off to the wonderful lady in Boots who tracked down the Tir Tir online and arranged for free delivery to my local Boots chemist, despite my only spending £7. It took her ages to sort out due to the vagaries of the website - fantastic customer service!
