I came home from a holiday today to find my Anthropologie calendar had arrived. I did a quick check to make sure nothing was missing, and noticed that there was a particularly strong smelling candle. It's scent had spread to quite a few of the boxes. Hopefully this is what the PP could smell.

Toying with the idea of buying the LF fragrance and opening the first 12 days as a 12 day calendar and putting the rest away for next year…

As in, I do NOT need 24 new perfumes, (no matter how small😹)

I've decided to definitely go for LF Fragrance. A lot of folk here have also said they fancy it, so I reckon it could sell out quite quickly.

A JL Fragrance will likely be an absolute yes from me if they do it again this year.

Fenwick will also be a Hell Yes if they do the GWP.

I've flirted with Nuxe then decided it's a no unless it's discounted (wondering if the 15% off new customer code works) They also give a lot of freebies. The problem is that a lot of the freebies are things like beach bags which I neither need nor want.

M&S I reckon will be a no from me for the 2nd year running.

H&B is my only other possibility. Likely for DD.

Good plan. I think my plan I posted earlier today is my final one (I know, I know...)

Buy CB next week then Fenwick in October when it releases. Spreads the cost over a couple of months too. Then create one Frankenstein calendar using the Fenwick box and gift or sell what I don't want from both.

I'm also saving the bits I've bought on Vinted from the Harrods and Liberty calendars to add in and I'm going to finally unbox last years Shiseido and add in the bits I want from that.

One lovingly curated calendar ready for the waifs and strays thread.

Be honest, is this genius or am I completely loopy? I feel if I told anyone IRL this they'd be 👀

I was only going to buy one big one this year but I'm not sure I have that much self restraint. 😳

I should maybe take a MN sabbatical in 2026 or hide the S&B section. 😂

Ooh, now you’re talking! Dublin for BT, Norwich for Jarrolds. I’m sure we could wangle a NY trip too and be wildly disappointed at their inferior calendars.

Absolute genius plan @OvaHere and you can probably recoup a fair bit via Vinted before advent season saturates the market with the DOD contents.

I've never understood why their multi brand calendars like Macy's etc. are so poor. They must know know loads of Americans buy up the UK, European and Korean ones.

Everything else objectively in the US is bigger and better - Sephora and Ulta rewards programme, those massive beauty cons they have, loads more brands and early releases so on and so forth. High end AC's they can barely be bothered with the effort it would seem.

Is it because the concept of advent and advent calendars is not a deeply rooted thing associated with childhood and family time in the same way it is here? I genuinely don't know if it's a thing in the US - maybe because Thanksgiving is the bigger holiday?

@OvaHere I am planning something similar although not sure if I will buy an actual advent or rely on gwp’s and edits up until Christmas.
I have a couple of fragrances from the Harrods’ advent that I plan on keeping, I have picked up a few bits from the Liberty advent off Vinted, I am off to the US next month and a friend has been taking in my orders so have some new BK beauty brushes and the Dermstore anniversary edit waiting for me and I am eyeing up an Hourglass palette which could be perfect for Christmas Day.
I may find you on the waif and strays with my own curated calendar.

I may well have an unneeded CB box sometime in October if you get back and decide you need one for your goodies. Of course you might already have a zillion empty boxes of your own in the attic!

Which BK brushes did you get? I have the Angie travel set and it's brill. Really nice brushes.

@OvaHere Thank you for your offer, I only have the HN 12 day box in the loft, so I may take you up in your offer.
I also forgot to add I ordered one of the new Dior mousse like blushes this week so would be great to get another shade for my advent.

I have the Angie brush set and a 106 for my foundation, I bought the Flawless Brush Bundle while their anniversary sale was on, the concealer brush will be a duplicate but it is hands down the best concealer brush I have used.

@MrsBnow12 I'll check those out next time there's a sale. I bought the travel set in the spring sale was and I've been impressed.

Not heard of the Dior mousse type blushes...I probably shouldn't look.

DH bought me a glorious bottle of Chanel no 5 today after a work trip, so I don't need a fragrance calendar!

Waiting on Vogue, John Lewis and m+s. I might end up making my own in vogue though!

I know many of us aren't Avant fans on here but Planning with Crystal unboxed the calendar. The unusual augmented reality thing with the box is quite clever and worth watching just for that.

Anthropologie have 20% off via blue light card today, taking the advent calendar down to £78.40.

If I’m honest, I bought it because it’s pretty. I’m not massively impressed with the contents at all and there are better calendars within the modest price bracket.

@Addictedtobeauty I don't think Anthropologie is for me even with the discount. I watched the Glossybox unboxing last night and I'm kind of tempted by that as a lower priced one. I really like Commodity Milk. I don't need it though, need to stay strong. 😂

It's really pretty. That is the main appeal I think.
