Hep me find fabulous tailored trousers

I've just bought some gorgeous blouses while on holiday and now realised i don't have trousers to pair them with, as i live mainly in joggers. My favourite type are well-tailored full length trousers, that hang really well. Not sure what type of material but the type that has a good hang, not flimsy material. It must be flared, no tight fitting or fitted ensembles. Ideally, I'd love a pair of high waisted trousers, so clinches the waist nicely.

Try Saint and Sofia - I love their trousers

Tonty · 18/08/2025 22:12

Thanks for the Margaret Howell recommendation, unfortunately their styles don't suit me and their prices are also outside my price bracket. Perhaps I should have mentioned, I've have a budget of £150 for a pair.

Cos or Arket. Jigsaw.

I own these in every colour: www.zara.com/uk/en/high-waist-trousers-p01478631.html?v1=484314812&v2=2420795

Reiss do some lovely ones.

Those trousers are gorgeous. Tempted by the navy and grey!

MsDastardley · 20/08/2025 07:25

Hobbs. Although I’ve just had a quick look as I need a new pair and nothing stands out at the moment. I like the Jigsaw Sailor trouser. It’s a heavyweight fabric, slightly cropped. They are almost full length on me and I thought they looked perfect. My daughter now has them and is 5’9” and they still great on her. Very smart.

anythingbutlillies · 20/08/2025 07:28

I ordered some from the Me+Em sale. The most beautiful quality ever! However , being short means they absolutely drown me - and not just in a 'too big' way, but if you are lucky enough for them to fit they are an absolute steal.

They're so thick too - the quality is really good.

I’m on this hunt too, so following with interest. So many websites not giving inside leg measurements these days, grrrr, and I need longer than average. I also want wool/wool blend, I think, and maybe it’s still a bit early for that with some.

Reiss looking good so far, but would be good if I could find cheaper.

BlueEyedBogWitch · 20/08/2025 08:21

Uniqlo wide leg trousers. Brilliant quality, good price, hang well, comfortable, good neutral colours. I have three or four pairs.

WinWhenTheyreSinging · 20/08/2025 09:11

I'm a bit scared of Uniqlo, I don't really understand the sizing. No stores anywhere near me to go and try either. Shame, I would love something that well priced to be the answer ...

In my head Uniqlo come up small, but not sure if that's actually true. But, surely you just order a couple of different sizes and send back what you don't want? I do this even in places I am more familiar with as sizing can be so random. They have a 'Find my size' tool on the website which you could try to help you narrow it down?

Hedjwitch · 20/08/2025 09:27

Ooh, the Zara ones look nice. I wonder how they look on a shorter, rounder person.....

WinWhenTheyreSinging · 20/08/2025 09:29

I'm in Seville in a couple of weeks, with a Zara raid planned. Have never really fitted in Zara before, so will be nice to go and think that a) things will fit, and b) the Spanish ones are meant to be better than the UK ones.

Will add trousers to try on list!

I’m a curvy 14 and the large fit me perfectly, if that helps.

AlexandraJJ · 20/08/2025 12:38

I’d second Reiss as well or Holland Cooper

Just done their 'MySize Assist'. For my height and weight, it recommends an XL, despite me being a 12 or sometimes a 10 elsewhere ... 😆

No proper inseam measurements on what I'm looking at either. The whole being able to get them hemmed to perfect length would be great, if I were sure of my size, but as it is - it's just too difficult without being able to go and try.

beachwalkx · 20/08/2025 13:38

If anyone wants a cheaper option, I got these
long is perfect with a small heel on me at 5ft 10 and they hang nicely

I actually really love marks and Spencer trousers. They don’t make me look inflated at the waist, or like I have a wire coat hanger in there- even though they have pockets.

I have a lovely pair of cigarette style trousers that are high waisted and look nice with a smart floaty blouse. I style it with a French tuck and some flat leather loafers. It’s my go-to smart work look x

cannyvalley · 20/08/2025 13:44

Also… I 100% recommend getting trousers altered. I’m super short , so all my trousers get hemmed at a local alteration place. All my dresses also get altered, as apparently I have no shoulders, and the difference in the fit is massive. I find it easier to get clothes that fit me properly when I’m not trying to get the right length as well as the right shape, if that makes sense.
