@JPMJuliz that's pretty good. It's quite an interesting one, I've never seen Hada Labo in an edit before so worth it for that I think. Not me unfortunately because I tried it a while ago and had a reaction but loads of people swear by it.

Oh I love hada labo HA - always slapping that on.

the Space NK make up GWP arrived and was great - v happy with that v wearable for me.

ITookYourJoob · 21/08/2025 14:17

@Arrearing50 I’m thinking about SpaceNK beauty gift - but the lipstick colour looks so dark. Not sure about nail colour either- too light? 😁

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 21/08/2025 14:24

The Next beauty boxes that I splurged on arrived and I've got two problems right off the bat:

  1. Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Recovery Cream is AMAZING and I wish I hadn't googled the price! £90!
  2. I got two more cleansers that need to be washed off and I don't seem to know how to do this without getting water all over the sink and halfway down my top - am I just a lunatic? If I use my hands to scoop the water and then lift it to my face, it runs in rivulets down my arms and neck. It puts me off using the wash off ones. I am a proper adult and everything (allegedly) so I'm not sure how I'm baffled by this. Do people just splash water everywhere?

That is exactly why I don’t use wash-off cleansers (other than in the shower) so if you are not adulting properly, then neither am I 😂

I’m sure I saw someone online wearing sweat-type wrist bands to stop the water running down their arms! No idea if that would actually work though.

CorneliaStreet · 21/08/2025 15:19

Those face washing wrist bands seem to be in a lot of advent calendars so some might turn up in your life without you trying 🙂

I’ve got some face cloths for washing off cleansers but I don’t usually bother. I’ve got pretty good at not completely drenching myself but still do get a bit wet sometimes.

TragicMuse · 21/08/2025 15:42

I use a muslin cloth to wash it off…aaaand I do it topless! 😉😆

I do end up with a bit running down my arm but not too much.

OvaHere · 21/08/2025 15:42

I've got 3 sets of the fluffy wristbands. I find them really useful so I don't mind them in the odd advent. Also use washcloths which minimises splashing.

@DidILeaveTheGasOn you're making me think I need that cream now! I used to use Dermalogica cream about 10 years ago but stopped for whatever reason - probably at the time it was because it was expensive.

OP posts:
DidILeaveTheGasOn · 21/08/2025 15:46

Ah I feel much better, I'm glad I asked! Need to get some fluffy wristbands!

OvaHere · 21/08/2025 15:48

If you can't wait for them to show up via an advent calendar Amazon usually have them.

Primark do washable microfibre cleaning pads which are great for cleansing.

Yeah I count my neck and décolletage and shoulder area as my face! The back of my neck looks very different to the front of my neck.

dermalogica is fantastic I’ve loved every single product I’ve bought of theirs in an edit. Really should stop messing about and just buy all my stuff from them. Do they do an AC?

Have you honestly never heard of a flannel? 😧It would genuinely never occur to me to splash water on my face, a flannel or muslin is loads more effective.

I have a box of flannels and use a new (as in washed not brand new) one every day, and I use the fluffy cuffs after DH moaned about the mess on the floor.
I love the Dermalogica microfoliant powder but it’s too spendy.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 21/08/2025 21:08

Dear @LordEmsworth,
Thank you for your correspondence. I have, in fact, heard of a flannel and perhaps even used one or two when I was a wee bairn. However, as time has passed and I have aged quite considerably, it did not occur to me to use one with my ampoules and potions. I shall waddle quietly to my nearest flannel emporium and equip myself forthwith.
Wishes,
Gas

(But actually, I wasn't sure on using a flannel in case it was a bit rough upon my visage and negated the point of using a lovely cleanser in the first place. I do see your point, and my description of washing my face sans flannel now sounds rather feral).

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 21/08/2025 21:09

Ooooh Dermalogica advent calendar... Gosh this thread is ruinous. I'll have to sell a kid.

Talisin · 21/08/2025 21:14

@DidILeaveTheGasOn Grab a couple of packs of these instead of a flannel. Much nicer to the skin.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 21/08/2025 21:17

Ooh yes @Talisin, thank you! Ordered!

TheCryingTheBitchAndTheFloordrobe · 21/08/2025 21:20

Oh God a Dermalogica advent. The day after I ordered Liberty. I'm doomed.

Don’t forget the wristbands! They make a huge difference!

BakeOffRewatch · 21/08/2025 22:53

I haven’t been using a flannel on my face. Thought the whole apricot kernels to exfoliate thing was shown to be bad for the skin and assumed same for flannels because they’re abrasive? Has that all changed again. I spent my teens using that St Ives face polish!

I use these micro fibre cloths, they're not scratchy like the flannels of my childhood.

I also bought these this morning because they look really soft.
