Can anyone recommend a dress a bit like this….

I have a couple of events including a wedding. I really like this blue dress but need to wear a bra - 36/38DD/E ish. So it really doesn’t work.

(these were linked on another thread)

i also like the black one but I think a high neck is officially wrong for my shape. Even though I often wear them I would like something flattering.

i don’t wear a lot of colour but if I do it’s usually red which I would rather avoid for a wedding. I like solid colours rather than floral midi type dresses. But would like you look feminine.

budget about £150. Haven’t worn anything short in years,

Good point re the fabric. Although most of my clothes are within £100 and ok (mainly Cos)
interesting about the wedding comment…are the styles completely wrong? I don’t really do dressy so was trying to force myself to wear “weddingy” styles.

How about this?

I love these but haven't got around to buying anything yet. Great brand.

Or this which is blue like the one you shared

Dancinshoes · 02/08/2025 08:49

I really love the first one thanks @SodOffbacktoaibu but in red or black. I don’t think the green would work on me.

i also really like the blue one but feel like it could be a lot of fabric with big boobs maybe not so flattering. Might be worth trying on though.

Omg I didn't realise yours were the same brand. I didn't look closely 😆🙈

Not very helpful of me! Just reminded me of their stuff which I know from wolf and badger.

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 02/08/2025 09:13

Sorry that red green black option is awful if you have big boobs. I can only see it working on a very thin model and then it still bad.

The second link is worse. No shape at all.

The first dress you liked is better as the top has actual shape and it's fitted.

Would it? Where do you shop?

I was wondering that. I regularly get told off for suggesting dresses which are supposedly too pricey and whilst I do have dresses which were considerably more than £150, I've got others in that range. It's a perfectly reasonable and respectable budget. Palava, Joannie, Cos, Nobody's Child , Sister Jane are all more or less in that budget

I really like this one

Wolf and Badger

@Notanartist81

It’s not. It’s lovely quality cotton.

I recommend Metamorphoza lots on here. The dresses are lovely and come well packaged with a little note or gift.

I have the sleeved version of the dress. It’s fabulous

I think all of your choices are great, fine for a wedding and £150 is a decent budget.

None of them are "wedding guest" dresses which means you'll get other wear out of them.

Coldtoesandsand · 02/08/2025 12:13

John Lewis has a filter for wedding guest. Use that + also filter price up to £160 - there are some gorgeous items on sale, especially a cute Adrianna papell and Phase Eight 👍

OP you could ignore the "wedding guest" filter. You'll get a much nicer selection. A dress can be perfectly acceptable to wear to a wedding without being a "wedding guest dress".

Theextraordinaryisintheordinary · 02/08/2025 19:37

Love that blue dress

Andbegin · 03/08/2025 10:06

Can I ask why people are looking on Wolf and Badger for the dress?
Is it just inspiration / ideas?
They are more expensive than going direct to the metamorphoza website. I’ve ordered a few things directly ( theres an EU site too) no issues with delivery and as I said I got it nicely packaged with a little gift.

Silvertulips · 03/08/2025 15:17

I would add the youngsters are pairing down and simplifying their wardrobes - chic and simple - clean and classic.

I've got this dress and have worn it to several weddings, it’s really comfy and has pockets too.
some of those dresses people are linking to look like folded duvet covers!!

Have you actually tried this dress on? As you may find you can pin your bra straps or get a suitable strapless one. Unless it’s a very thin fabric, the dress itself may be fairly supportive as it looks fairly fitted at the top.

I love that dress! Unfortunately I’m too short and I don’t have anywhere to wear it to, but otherwise I would definitely be getting one!

Blueuggboots · 03/08/2025 17:49

@CatRescueNeeded- I got mine from Vinted, brand new for £40! I’ve got a plain blue one and a green polka dot one too. I love them, the chiffon ones are so flattering. Could you not have it shortened? (I think they do a midi length too but maybe not in that print).

spoonbillstretford · 03/08/2025 19:24

I have this with the handkerchief hem if you don't mind sleeves. It feels so nice on and the v front may suit you.

TeaHagTeaBag · 03/08/2025 23:09

I love the black dress in your OP and as the bearer of 34f boobs, it would suit me well (I look like a dowager in most v necks and a lot of supposedly more flattering shapes). I've a couple of metamorphoza pieces and I'm very happy with the quality. There's a red dress I've been lusting after for months.
