I think it depends, personally it woudn't work for me, but if you like it, it's your style, suits your shape and you can see when and where you'd wear it and with what then yay.

What is making you think nay?

owlexpress · 19/07/2025 14:32

It's a nay for me. I like a shacket, and I like the colour, but the fitted waist and the broderie anglaise isn't working for me. It's a weird clash of styles. You might pull it off though.

Agreed. Two styles in one jacket.

KateMiskin · 19/07/2025 14:35

Nay..So nay.

Not sure. It looks like a typical utility jacket but with the Broderie bit which I like. I just want as casual jacket with jeans.

Beautiful colour, but that weird gathering would be an instant 'nay' for me.

The tie in waist doesn’t need to be used, only if needed or wanted, otherwise it can be left loose.

Nay from me too I’m afraid.

That tie in the waist area can be left loose.

It looks like it doesn’t know whether it wants to be a shirt or a jacket.

BitOutOfPractice · 19/07/2025 14:40

Broderie Anglaise is having a moment and I love it (currently wearing a BA blouse) but I don’t think this works - unless you’re 80ish. Lovely colour though.

Greenthingslover · 19/07/2025 14:40

It can be left untied.

I love broderie anglais...but not a fan of the cut or colour of that jacket

Trovindia · 19/07/2025 14:41

I really dislike the drawstring waist, and I think there's not enough of the broderie anglaise so it looks like an afterthought, the back is ok but the front is too utilitarian in contrast.

ChocolateGanache · 19/07/2025 14:42

Now I do LOVE a BA top or dress… but it’s a no from me. It’s just a bit odd looking.

Lafufufu · 19/07/2025 14:45

I read the title and wanted to say Yay!

But its a nay...
It looks like something from one of those catalogue books that cam in the mail on sunday in the 90s/00s

Aixellency · 19/07/2025 15:26

It’s a bit illogical, surely? If it’s cold enough for a jacket - even a light jacket, then it’s not the right day for broderie anglaise, which is patently (and potently) a summer fabric.

Just looks weird to me.

catmothertes1 · 19/07/2025 15:27

I like the jacket but not with the BA. I do like a dress or blouse with BA but the jacket is a strange mix. Feels like something you'd get from the Per Una range in Marks and Spender.

Me too. Yay! to BA but Nay! to the strange mix.

henlake7 · 19/07/2025 15:31

nope. If it was cropped then Id probably like the cut and colour but the utility style with BA around the bottom just doesnt work together.

owlexpress · 19/07/2025 16:17

But you can still see the design, even if it's not tightened.

Unanimous nay I'm afraid. This is similar but nicer IMO.

Hush jacket

I don't know why the link won't work https://www.hush-uk.com/cotton-oversized-cropped-shacket-khaki-green/012700-2012.html

UpMyself · 19/07/2025 16:44

No. I don't like the colour, drawstring, lack of usable pockets, scalloped edge or the broderie anglaise.
It looks like something mail order.

Stripeysockspots · 19/07/2025 16:48

Useful if you want to hack through a jungle and then are in need ot a doyly when you get there

ginasevern · 19/07/2025 17:36

No. It's like 2 styles put together that sort of conflict. It would be slightly better without the broderie anglaise

tipsyraven · 19/07/2025 17:39

It’s an odd combination of styles and doesn’t work.
