Can I cut my curly wavy hair ?

I haven’t had my hair cut for about 6 months as I’ve been recovering at home from a big operation . It’s thick and curly/ wavy and it is quite bushy at the sides. When I do go to the hairdresser I’m often disappointed in the cut - too thinned out or uneven or too short etc So I’m wondering if I could do it myself by cutting some of the length off then trying a mumsnet cut or unicorn cut is not take too much off to start with.

What do you think yes or leave it well alone? Or go to a proper hairdresser?

I have long thick curly hair. I used to
go to a curly hair specialist but she’s no longer in London. So I bought hairdressing scissors and I now cut it myself using that 2 ponytail method. I then shape it a bit around the front.

I can honestly say it looks just as good and it saves me £170 and the train fare there and back.

What's the 2 ponytail method?
