Something to put on face on holiday not as thick as a foundation

I'm lucky enough to be going on holiday next week. I don't want to wear my normal foundation but too old to go 'naked' facially.

Do I need an BB or CC cream. Not actually sure what they are though? Any recommendations please?

Both the Erborian BB and CC creams are good. I find only a small amount is needed for a good result. Your skin does need to be well moisturised and not dry/flaky though.

Hydra Tint by Sculpted by Aimee. It's perfect!

If it’s a sunny place, honestly just go with a Matt sunscreen.
No one is too old to go without make up. You’ll have a lovely glow when you get back.

It's an oldie but a goodie: Garner BB cream

Belladog1 · 05/07/2025 07:57

I've never been a fan of foundation and have been using a tinted moisturiser. It's L'Oréal Paris Skin Paradise. It isn't too expensive either, at around £7

atlanta1 · 05/07/2025 07:58

No 7 do a great tinted sun cream

fatgirlswims · 05/07/2025 08:00

Erborian is good because it comes in travel size tube. I use the dore one on holiday and it s nice glow. I have white skin (it comes in 4 shades and comes out of the tube white and turns skin coloured)

I use the EL daywear sheer tint at the moment that’s also good and is one shade. But pricier and no travel side

Purplecatshopaholic · 05/07/2025 08:01

Another vote for Erborian CC cream. It’s amazing. Get the smaller size to start and see if you like it. I have dry clean for the record, and it’s brilliant. There’s also CC Dull Correct (purple tube) and CC Red Correct (green tube) as well as the shades of the normal CC cream. It’s basically a blurring moisturiser with a bit of SPF in there too.

I second this! It's amazing

I absolutely adore elf suntouchables- it's slightly tinted SPF, and I mix it with drunk elephant bronzing drops which gives me a gorgeous glow!

tealandteal · 05/07/2025 08:02

I use Dr Jart tinted sunscreen every day. It spf 50 and looks really natural. You can also put makeup on top if you want to.

Daffodilsarefading · 05/07/2025 08:06

I like the Garnier vitamin c cream. It has a spf of factor 50 and you can get clear or tinted.

ZiggyPlaysGuitarrr · 05/07/2025 08:10

I never wear foundation. I have my lashes and brows tinted. use the Garnier medium tanning mist spray a couple of times a week for a light glow. I moisturise daily, dab a touch of concealer under my eyes and use a little blush , bronzer and lipstick. That's plenty for a natural, healthy look imo.

Thisbastardcomputer · 05/07/2025 08:19

I use Laura Geller powder foundation, it builds into whatever coverage you want, for me it does not move and is great in hot weather, the only thing that’s ever worked in hot conditions

lindyloo57 · 05/07/2025 13:12

This week I've been trying out a tinted spf cream with a tinted spf powder lightly over the top, it gives me a nice colour and the powder helps it not go greasy

Azuresky68 · 05/07/2025 13:17

Do you need a sunscreen on holiday? I use No 7 Protect and Perfect tinted sunscreen which acts like a light foundation. I also like Cliniques CC creams and foundations. Although I love to sunbathe I make sure my face is very well protected and at 69 this month my skin is pretty good. So that my face colour matches my body colour I use St Tropez favial fake tan clear spray !

Yes to this one too. Switched to this last year after using La Roche-Posay for quite a few years. No 7 one is far cheaper and has better coverage.

Drivingmissrangey · 05/07/2025 13:32

I like Clinique City Block.

iseethembloom · 05/07/2025 14:25

This. It’s perfect, and light tan coloured rather than chalky white.

Light dabs of mousse foundation. Mine is Maybelline, years old and the tub is still going strong!

Cattery · 05/07/2025 14:39

I used NARS tinted moisturiser instead of my normal foundation

I’m wondering how old you are? I prefer no make up on holiday

Melancholyflower · 05/07/2025 16:16

Do you mean for daytime, or going out in the evening? I just wear sunscreen during the day, but if going out I like to use Erborian CC to feel more 'made-up'.
