Need help deciphering dress code!

I have a wedding next weekend which has quite a complex dress code; from what I can surmise it is ‘American black tie’ (the bride is American) however the venue is outside in Scotland so this is also stipulated in the invite. The bride has requested only satin, silk, crepe or taffeta.

Can anyone please help me decipher the dress code and suggest a suitable dress? I’m pregnant, 16 weeks but showing as it’s not my first baby. I don’t want to spend much at all if I can help it so will happily trawl vinted but I don’t even know what style of dress I’m looking for! Everything long and in chiffon or satin looks bridesmaid-y to me.

Jeez, why doesn't the bride just order everyone's outfit for them if they want to be so controlling!!

Indeed.

Wedding co-ordinators are going to have to start hiring ‘visually acceptable guests’ to meet future brides’ specifications at this rate, or maybe even avatars instead of real guests. It’s utterly ridiculous, just to look good for Instagram.

I’d be sorely tempted to go completely against the dress code just to see what they did about it but then I’m too old for all this shit

That’s lovely! And reasonable, buy it!

I tried on this Seasalt dress but it did not look good unfortunately! It was very tight over my bump even when sizing up and the fabric was very clingy, you could see my bellybutton through it.

I ordered a few from boohoo maternity and have a couple of options now.

Sod that I wouldn't be going especially if I was only wearing the dress once.

Agreed. I wouldn't go either.

Fuck that pretentious self-centred nonsense!
