Swishy cotton maxi skirt

Help please oh wise ones of MN
I am after a long swishy maxi skirt to wear over the summer with a simple white T and either nude ballet flats or nude espadrilles (I acknowledge not the most trend setting but suits my aesthetic!).
I am tall (5 ft 10) and looking for a true ling maxi- size 12/14.
ideally:
Cotton
Pockets
Lined
I love pinks and works well with nude and a raffia bag
Bonus points if lined
Budget of up to £150
and nothing from China please!

i attach the closest thing I have found but this is off a scam website with terrible reviews.

thank you

If it's thin fabric and a bit see through, buy a cotton slip / petticoat to wear underneath.

If you can wear drop waist, this was lovely for the price- a nice material too. No pockets, but does come in the option of tall length (it was maxi on me at 5'7. I returned because of the drop waist, but now I've seen the tall length I might buy that and wear it as high waisted)

TOAST. They're not big on pink tbf, but excellent quality and long enough on 5'11" me.

The crinkle cotton one is heavy enough to wear all year round with tights, but still somehow cool enough for summer.

Ahhhh I know this one!

A Colour Story. Small British brand. Slightly over budget at £160 but British-made and superb quality. Massive pockets, tall friendly. Not lined but made from very good quality heavy cotton twill with a lovely sheen and drape so they don’t need to be.

I don’t work for them, honest. I’ve wanted one for years and finally treated myself a few months ago. I have the Klein blue. Check the size chart and allow
for very slight shrinkage on first wash.

These are beautiful! And no tiers.

OP I’m similar height to you and just ordered this one from Sainsbury’s clothing, absolute bargain. Fingers crossed it fits!

That's not a difficult skirt to make - you could investigate local dressmakers/alterations places to see how much it would cost to make up from fabric of your choice.

ShadesOfPemberley · 25/05/2025 21:18

Gosh the Colour Story skirts are absolutely stunning! If you like those and can afford one OP I would do that! Tempted myself but a bit over budget! I will start saving…!!!

These are beautiful! And no tiers.

I’m very fussy about maxi skirts and can’t bear tiers. They give me flashbacks to Sienna Miller in 2004 and always look a bit cheap. They are much cheaper to make as you only need to cut smaller panels of fabric and can therefore get more garments out of each length.

shazshaz · 25/05/2025 21:23

I have the Tu clothing yellow broderie & it is lovely - a good weight, lined, pockets & no tiers.

Monstermunchy · 25/05/2025 22:16

I’ve got a Zara one that sounds exactly like you’re describing - I’m 5’6 and it’s too long on me - has pockets too.
Ive just had a very quick google and looks like they have similar online now

I got a skirt from Lucy and Yak last year called Brie which was lovely. They don't have it anymore but this is quite similar, they're great quality. They have a few other similar skirts too if you don't like this one Lucy and Yak Esme Skirt

Check out these Indian ‘Gopi skirts’. Sikka do a full outfit, with scarf, etc, but you could get a really nice skirt for less than your budget https://www.instagram.com/sikka_threadsoftradition?igsh=emo2amE1Zmc1eDZ2

try Boden because they have petite , regular and long sizes .
I don’t often buy Boden because it is pricey for me , but the midi skirt I got for myself one year is more like a midaxi so they don’t skimp on the length .

Nadia Poplin Maxi Skirt-Blue, Ornamental Floral

We challenge you not to immediately fall for our Nadia tiered maxi skirt… with a bold print design and pockets, how could you not?

MySweetGeorgina · 26/05/2025 09:04

i am 6ft and got a lovely viscose maxi skirt from Roman (!) that is perfect length for me

The Boden and Toast ones lovely but not quite long enough

Sprig1 · 26/05/2025 09:05

TkMaxx can be good for this kind of thing.

I want one of these myself but why does everything have tiers?

Exactly I can't bear tiers. Some lovely prints but skirt ruined by tiers.

minipie · 26/05/2025 15:50

I love the Wrap skirts mentioned upthread - but reviews say they come up very long and I’m 5’3. Might be ideal for you OP

Anyone who likes the Color Story skirts - google “Poplin skirt” - there are loads of this style around at the moment. Free People definitely has some in many colours, but cheaper places also. M&S and H&M have them too I think.
