Short wedding dress?

I'm getting married next year. It's a summer (hopefully!) wedding and is set in a woodland. The guests including us will be no more than 20 with a casual dinner after.

I have a son who will be 6 and is a fight risk (ASC) - I need to be able to move. I don't want to spend crazy money on a wedding dress. I don't want a big floofy dress. So I was thinking something more non traditional, but traditional enough that it will be bridal. Would you ever consider a short dress? I'm just not sure I could pull it off... I'm 5'8 and I'll hopefully be a size 12. Currently a large 14. I'll be 38 if that changes anything.

Such a beautiful dress OP! I'm glad you found one bespoke to you, I am sure you will look & feel amazing wearing in it on your special day. I wore my hair in my normal style (long & loose) with a dainty silver hair band with silver flowers on it. I think flower clips also look lovely in hair too.

My daughter is very good at creating waves in her straight hair using straighteners which looks very pretty & feminine. I'm sure other posters will have some great ideas you can try out.
Enjoy your special day x

Awww, that’s lovely. Perfect for a woodlands wedding. You’ll look georgous.

In my honest opinion and I know this is gonna sound mean but these short knee length 50 style dresses make you look like a big pudding if you’re over a size 10
The so much more flattering outfits out there

Apologies to pull this thread back into life but...I have bought a dress. It is ballerina length and I have attached a photo. I love it and yes slightly non traditional but it's my wedding and I don't care ha!

Picture isn't me obviously 😅 but could you lovely ladies help with some hair styles and accessories shoes etc? I have dark brown shoulder length ridiculously straight hair! No fringe.

Also trying to work out if I need a cape or similar just in case it rains/chilly.

Sorry, too late to the thread that’s gorgeous

Oh sorry, I've just seen your bought one. If embrace the slightly fairy aspect and get some sparkly butterfly hair clips

I wish I could get £10 from my camera every time I take a photo!

(Yes, you do sound mean.)
