Which jacket?

Sallystopppedwaiting · 11/05/2025 22:27

I’m going to an event at my son’s university in the US in September. I will wear either a pale pink or navy pair of wide trousers and a slim cream top underneath one of these jackets. My shoes are a nude colour from LK Bennett ( pointy toe sling back). I’m in my 50’s size 6 petite.

Which do think is nicer? One Two

Two but really depends on how it looks on you

I don’t have them yet but have decided it will be one of these. I have been wearing a lot of Em and Me clothes, mainly tops and I spotted this jacket. I usually wear petite but their size 4 fits me well. My trousers are all from REISS because they do petite. The LK Bennett one is petite.

Great, so I would say just try them both and see which suits you better - obviously as everyone has said 1 is more current 2 is more classic. I think 1 is a bit ‘busy’ but if it looks good on you then it will be a really nice outfit.

UpToonGirl · 12/05/2025 07:33

I like both but I would choose 2.

Can you get both and try them on with your planned outfit?

Sallystopppedwaiting · 12/05/2025 07:51

I have all of these trousers which I could wear at different times with the jacket which is why I thought cream would look good.I also have a couple of these trousers in black.

1 2 3 4 5

These are my choices of shoes which I already have, I have a similar pair to no 1 in navy as well, I would probably wear the high ones for this event but have the other option for another time. I have a very fine cream tee which is fitted so would look good under either jacket

Definitely 2 - your other trousers/shoe choices are all quite classic. I think 1 is too fussy and chunky, and would overwhelm the delicate lines on your trousers/shoes.

TheOGCCL · 12/05/2025 08:18

Number two for me. It's smarter and more elegant. Number one is busy and I find the dark buttons against pale fabric a bit tacky, ironic for the price. I think maybe it looks nicer IRL.

Letshavetea1 · 12/05/2025 08:39

I think two as you’re petite. The longer line of one may swamp you. Both gorgeous though! Have you tried them on?

sonoonetoldyoulifewasgonnabethisway · 12/05/2025 08:46

Two

Sallystopppedwaiting · 12/05/2025 08:49

I have ordered it this morning, the fact it’s petite swayed me in the end. I might order the other one and compare . I usually like to try things on at home with all my options.

Thank you all❤️

The first one.

ERthree · 12/05/2025 09:52

One is to fussy and lumpy, more Meghan Markles bad styling.

Floisme · 12/05/2025 10:22

Provided it fits ok I'd go for the first one (Me and Em). I think the second one will also work but, as the rest of your outfit sounds very classic, I think the Me and Em one will just throw an element of surprise into the mix. Also the LK Bennet one annoys me as they describe it as 'cotton' when it only totals 55% cotton. I'm not as against synthetics as some people are but please at least be honest about it.

Floisme · 12/05/2025 10:38

Ah sorry op, I missed your update and now I'm too late to edit my post. I think you're right to consider the fit - it's a big factor.

Comefromaway · 12/05/2025 10:49

Both are nice. I prefer One. But I would try them both on and see which one you feel fits you and your shape the best.

Sallystopppedwaiting · 12/05/2025 10:57

I will try both at home @Floisme @Comefromaway ,I think two may be a better fit but one really caught my eye. Me and Em tops do fit me surprisingly well, size 4 rather than 6 even though it’s not specifically petite. So it’s a brand that’s definitely worth a try for any others who usually wear petite.

OP posts:
Comefromaway · 12/05/2025 11:01

I'll bear that in mind as I struggle to find petite fitting clothes.

WhatdoesitmeanKeith · 12/05/2025 11:05

I love your taste in clothes OP. Outfits sound lovely. Especially like jacket 2 and the pointy flats.

Sallystopppedwaiting · 12/05/2025 11:08

Thank you @WhatdoesitmeanKeith .x

PiggyPigalle · 12/05/2025 11:08

I like both, but for proportion with wide trousers, number 2. Sounds a lovely outfit.

HiRen · 12/05/2025 11:15

Yes, the fit will determine it but I wouldn’t have had two in contention in the first place. “If you want Chanel, wear Chanel” is what I always think with these boxy boucle jackets. Also I think it’ll be less versatile than the longer length jacket.

Sallystopppedwaiting · 12/05/2025 11:28

@Comefromaway Mint Velvet is another brand worth considering. I bought a few tops this summer and they fit really well. Some are sold out now but it’s worth having a look the website. I bought these a 3 a few months ago.

Re jacket 2, and I know this is off topic, OP, but that style looks really good with jeans too, obviously a totally different look, but a really useful kind of jacket to have
