Wide leather sandals, leather inner, walkable but stylish

Does anyone have any tips for nice sandals with an adjustable front, or come in wide fittings?
There used to be a few just bearable Hotter styles but they’re so frumpy now and also, the inner is “textile” - changed a few years ago - it’s a beige fabric that looks like nubuck in photos but it’s cheap material over plastic that wears poorly.
Clarks I like but I can’t find anything nice right now in a wide fitting or adjustable.
i want an alright looking sandal, maybe with a bit of a wedge, that I can wear on a city break without sore feet but feeling a bit more elegant than I do in my tevas.

thanks in advance

They look like they would be awful if you suffer from plantar fasciitis though - completely flat sole.

… and if you haven’t got PF, might actually cause it, especially if you’re doing a lot of walking.

If you've got lots of money, Sole Bliss or Calla do wide fit sandals with leather lining.

EwwSprouts · 07/05/2025 15:56

This brand generally comes up wide. leather top and soles

You didn't mention a price range, OP, but I bought these Marni sandals a few years ago and they've been great. Lots of different colours, and if they go the distance of the Marc Jacobs sandals they replaced in my wardrobe, I will get a good decade's wear out of them.

I feel obliged to add that I have a very unlovely bunion on one foot, so wide straps are a must; and at the time I was looking to replace my beloved Marc Jacobs, I was suffering from plantar fascitis and tendonitis in my Achilles, so thin soles were also a no-no. There's a wider range of flatform sandals with chunky straps around now!

I absolutely love the saltwaters with the thick sole - you can swim in them and shove them in the washing machine. They are so comfy and come in some lovely colours. https://www.salt-watersandals.co.uk/collections/womens-sandals/products/boardwalk-tan-womens-sandal

Alternatively I’ve got some Birkenstocks which I love (gold Arizonas)

just bought some more pikolinos sandals for my troll feet and they are instantly comfortable. These ones to be precise! https://www.pikolinos.com/uk-en/formentera-w8q-0803clc1.html?dwvar_formentera-w8q-0803clc1_color=CHAMPAGNE

Penelope Chilvers. I usually buy one pair each year but they last forever.

I just bought a super comfortable pair in Seville last week. Looked up the brand and it's Turkish. Leather lined and inner sole/ synthetic sole. They're priced in dollars.
Now my go to for decent comfortable shoes

@Newstartplease24 for years I avoided them as I thought my feet were too wide to fit them but I recommend looking at Saltwater sandals. They are surprisingly wide and the leather also gives a bit plus they now do some styles with adjustable buckles. They are honestly the most comfortable sandals I’ve had for a long time. Some of them are very flat but they do a padded range that I also have and they are very comfortable.

mdinbc · 08/05/2025 20:53

Also have a look at Sorel. I have a pair from a few years ago that are very comfy, and some have adjustable straps. I like the look of this one; it comes in a few colours:

Like you I would have previously searched for those. But I’ve been buying Saltwater with the adjustable front for 10 years. The footbed is not leather but I don’t notice when wearing them and it doesn’t get smelly and is easy to keep clean.
I say 10 years but in that time I’ve had 3 pairs. One I’ve relegated to gardening. One with the thin sole and one with the thicker sole are still in use. Thin sole take up a little less room in a bag when packing.
I wear them all summer.

I second Saltwater and have the comfy sole ones too. They're great! I have wide feet that swell.

I’m loving Moda in Pelle lately as new shop opened near me. The do beautifully soft Italian leather shoes and prices aren’t too bad but even better in the sales.

I got these last year and they’re very comfy (I’m a wide foot) - not many sizes left of these ones, but have a browse on their site.
