Argh! Urgently need something for my pathetic boobs

I've bought this strapless M&S dress to wear to a couple of imminent weddings, and am now feeling nervous about my rather sad, spaniel ear boobs. I've hardly ever gone strapless before, and I don't know where to start.
Sorry for the shit photos, but thought they might be useful as reference 🫠

You guys are all totally lovely, thank you!! My confidence already feels boosted. Intruiged by the advice to avoid M&S bra fitters! I can't remember if it was them or John Lewis who last measured me, 30C - it's a pain in the arse to find that bra size. Anyway, I'm going to JL this week so will bring the dress along and see if they and any other places in town have anything that works. I don't ordinarily mind about the deflated boobs, but I think it's because they are just so on show in this dress that I started to feel a bit rubbish.

M & S stilled the outdated plus 4 method of bra measuring which means you end up with a bra that doesn’t give enough support on the band.

My bra size is 32 DD or 30E depending on the fit) (I measure 31). M & S tried to persuade me into a 36 B

Minieggsarecrack · 04/05/2025 16:10

You look amazing! But if you want a strapless bra I agree with wonder bra, however I found I had to size down from my usual 38c to a 36b and that was perfect, fitted snugly and gave good lift. In my usual size I felt unsupported and droopy.

TariffPenguin · 04/05/2025 16:11

A flower for your wrist, LOL

TariffPenguin · 04/05/2025 16:11

You do look gorgeous

mewkins · 04/05/2025 16:18

I really like the dress on you. Does it feel secure or like you'll have to keep pulling it up?

C080889 · 04/05/2025 16:23

Your skin tone is my dream! I am neither tanned or pale.
MS do a wonderful strapless bra. Size wise its a bit off but it is a dream on when you get it right. Its cupped and the fabric at the front crosses over a bit...
For any chesty gals its much cheaper than a wonderbra and holds my 36F in a dream!

Ohplesandbanonos · 04/05/2025 19:24

Use the boob or bust method and measure yourself at home. I recently got a cheap strapless(multiway) bra from primark and have been pleasantly surprised!

1988abc · 05/05/2025 06:28

Talking of bra fitting I recently had one at John Lewis and I don't honestly think it was accurate. She basically just passed me another bra told me to try it on and that was that no measuring or anything.

mepipesneedlagging · 05/05/2025 06:42

You look great as you are. I have a couple of dresses similar but they aren't strapless (never worn, no occasion yet)
I absolutely wouldn't fake tan, your skin tone compliments your hair completely.

begone25 · 05/05/2025 07:40

You look amazing! One thing to check with a strapless dress is the ‘arms in the air’ dancing test! If it falls down you might have to get a smaller size or use tape to make sure it stays in place! Please don’t use fake tan, your colouring is beautiful and you will look so striking in that dress!

I’m gong to do the “dress dance” regularly from now on, so thanks for that ❤️. To add, there is also a risk of fake tan ruining the dress.

ISeeTrees · 05/05/2025 08:29

I have the cheap Primark multi way too and it's good in strapless mode- has a little rim of silicone to stop slippage that seems to work well!
I have a top that I can't wear any bra with and am a C cup. It's halterneck and backless. I use a stick on bra that basically looks like two bunnies- the 'body' goes over the nipple and you lift by the 'ears' and stick it a bit higher up. It gives a bit of lift/cover, if that could work for you OP? I think it was about a fiver on eBay but I daresay there's pricier alternatives!
(Please don't/feel the need to fake tan, your colouring is beautiful and I have such hair envy!)

IamEarthymama · 05/05/2025 08:40

You look wonderful!
Please don’t fake tan, your colouring is perfect as it is 😊

ChandrilanDiscoDroid · 05/05/2025 08:49

I've just taken a look at your colouring. What kind of maniac suggested a fairskinned true redhead fake tan?!?! You need fake tan like you need a hole in your head. Your colouring is stunning and perfect as it is and your skin is a beautiful contrast with the dress.

ThisIsntAboutAChair · 05/05/2025 17:27

I must admit, my heart did sink when I read the initial fake tan suggestion. It was kindly meant, but I just spent so long as a teenager wishing for tan and basically hating my skin and hair. It's been a long road to self acceptance 🥕

I think you look gorgeous. I actually think you look better than a person with boobs would. Like a ballet dancer.

my only comment : fake tan ?

Why the fake tan comment, did the OP comment that she was unhappy with her skin colour at all? I'm naturally very pale, do not naturally tan at all and find it really irritating that people feel they have the right to comment on how to 'improve' the colour of my perfectly fine skin.

In response to the OP, the dress looks fabulous, I'm a very similar shape to you and unfortunately am yet to find a strapless bra that stays in place, I now just wear a tube top under strapless dresses which helps me feel a bit more secure, but doesn't give any lift.

Your colouring is beautiful - I have the very fair skin but with dull mousey hair your figure is also fantastic. I have large boobs they aren't something to hanker after I promise, so many clothes don't fit and those that do often look either tarty or matronly.
In short I'd love your hair and C cups!
You look great in the dress, I hope you feel great in it because you look fabulous.

If you not a fan of tan, buy a tanning mitt and apply Dove gradual tanning moisturiser - I would do it in the morning if you find it sticky so you can always rinse off at night. Have to say, no one should have to change anything about themselves but a hint of glow on that much exposed skin will make you feel better. You look fab in the dress! But if you feel better with a bra, do buy a good branded push up bra. Be prepared for it to be tight enough that its uncomfortable, otherwise you will spend all day hoiking it up.

A hint of glow will make you feel better?! Wtaf.

Why would it? Do we tell darker people they would feel better a Shade lighter? Or taller people they would feel better shorter.

Lovelyview · 05/05/2025 17:39

I'd get a strapless bra and make sure you can jump up and down in it - you're presumably going to want to hit the dance floor and don't need to be self conscious or uncomfortable.

WashableVelvet · 05/05/2025 18:15

You look just gorgeous. Take the dress along to bravissimo and they’ll find the right strapless bra for you and it. Odds on they’ll measure you more like 28D, as they fit people a bit differently from the traditional way, but it’s exactly what’s needed for strapless where you don’t want a loose band that then stretches and slithers down.

ThisMustBeMyDream · 05/05/2025 18:30

I posted asking similarly a couple of weeks ago, and was recommended this bra https://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-cassie-super-push-up-strapless-bra/p110538728?irclickid=Ryc1nR34CxyPWSv2NoVZmU4zUksR4xQ9gwzjzw0&irgwc=1&tmcampid=99&safcid=af10078Content

Honestly, it's been life changing for my sad empty sacks! I'm wearing it right now and it's both comfortable and does all the things I want from a strapless bra! I have even bought a 2nd one in another colour way since posting too!

Fully recommend and think you'll be very happy too! Get thee to JL!

fashionqueen0123 · 05/05/2025 18:32

Debenhams used to do good strapless bras. Now if you have small boobs I’d try max cleavage or John Lewis for a push up one. Or next

StasisMom · 05/05/2025 18:50

You look lovely. The end.
