Holiday wear for arm-hater

Hello! So I hate my arms. I’m a normal weight, tall but just have always struggled with what I perceive as ‘fat’ upper arms. Slightly broad shouldered and large boobs. Think DD, but trousers usually a 12. Heading on hols in July and just wondering what type of styles work? South of France so will be some days by pool, some walking about exploring. I also like to not have anything tight across my tummy: not necessarily overweight, but definitely not toned, and 2 csections has given me the dreaded ‘pouch’! So I either like something fully supportive to hold in, or something v loose! Thanks all! X

Your arm look fab show them off

minipie · 27/04/2025 00:36

You have great legs and there’s nothing wrong with your arms at all.

I would go for v neck t shirts in a loose
fit but tucked in. With whatever bottoms you like.

And some v neck beach throw overs. Pitusa have nice ones. But not cheap

TemporaryName123 · 27/04/2025 08:49

thank you both, from the side the do look like massive chunks of ham. I’m going to try tone them up a bit before we go (I have 80’sometbing days to do this!). The v neck T-shirts actually not a bad idea and I have loads of them that I wear here, just don’t know why I didn’t think of them for holidays (think I feel like I should be some type of fashionista wandering around France - floaty dresses/skirts etc!) x

Your actual arms look nice, but it’s the bulge next to them, I think you are wearing a bra that’s too small. Once you have a well fitting bra and that bulge goes, your arms look nice

This shows how high the standards for women are. You look great and there is nothing wrong with any part of you, especially not your arms. You can wear anything.
Meanwhile men wandering around with beer bellies wearing whatever they want..

Absolutely agree. I always find these kind of posts interesting, especially when there is a photo too. We hear about the perceived 'flaws' and can also see the actual reality.

You have a great figure, OP, arms and all. Lovely shoulder blades. I can assure you with absolute certainty that nobody besides you will be thinking your arms look like 'massive chunks of ham'. Just because they no longer look exactly like the arms of a skinny teenager, doesn't mean they aren't as lovely.

I do understand though. I (and millions of women) have to come to terms with our figures changing over the years, and post children. But why should that mean we aren't as beautiful and valid as before? My body has done amazing things, grown and birthed and fed four children... And yep, it shows. I'm proud of it (on my good days!).

Sorry I don't have anything to add style-wise.

Agree with PP you look great. The vest top suits your wide. shoulders.

SeanMean · 27/04/2025 12:08

I agree with the others but you are wearing the wrong size bra.

Get yourself fitted in Bravissimo.

Nothing at all wrong with your arms!

I too have rather untoned arms, and I quite like puff sleeves with a deep v neck. I got this Nobody’s Child top recently from Vinted and even my 17yo told me I was very on trend 😁 https://www.nobodyschild.com/products/white-tie-front-bernadetta-blouse-t250813wht?queryID=df4ae64c09d6bf38e677123d7d96f104

Titasaducksarse · 27/04/2025 12:30

I think you look great.
How about the short kimono tops from One Hundred Stars you could put on over your vest top when wearing shorts. I love mine and add a splash of colour if you're wearing plain underneath.

NoWayManananah · 27/04/2025 12:47

Honestly I’d be delighted if my arms looked as ‘fat’ as yours! If yours are chunks of ham mine must be the whole pig!
If I was being super critical as PP said it looks like your bra isn’t the best fit so perhaps that might be something to look at but otherwise you look great.

CortadoPlease · 27/04/2025 12:51

How about a shorts + shirt linen or cotton coord? Lots around at the moment.

Gettingbysomehow · 27/04/2025 12:52

My arms are awful after a 5 stone weight loss plus I'm 63. If I'm wearing a no sleeve dress I wear those fake sleeves you get off amazon. They control everything and make my arms look really nice without being hot.
It's better than having to throw all my sleeless dresses away.

Lentilweaver · 27/04/2025 12:55

Good lord!

SmallSoupcon · 27/04/2025 13:29

I like these loose-style sleeves. This comes in white too https://www.jdwilliams.co.uk/shop/p/ec693?optionSize=12&utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic_shopping&utm_term=EC693&gQT=1

Good lord!

A godsend for older ladies. I cannot show my arms. I match the colour with my dress obviously. Loads of people wear them. They just look like part of the dress. So many people including young people have really saggy arms from weight loss now. Ozempic face and Ozempic arms.

Lentilweaver · 27/04/2025 12:55

Good lord!

This is truly horrible don't buy it.

Scousemousey · 27/04/2025 13:46

I was going to say there are some nice tops out there with broderie anglaise sleeves or floaty "Angel sleeves" if you really don't want to show your arms.
But, there is absolutely nothing wrong with your arms OP. Womens arms are naturally softer than mens. If you want to tone them a bit do some triceps dips and bicep curls each day. Easy.
