in the sale- are they too middle of the road and dare I say- middle aged?

What Do these Boden trainers say?
OP posts:
gollyimholly · 03/04/2025 17:05

I like them. I am 35 FWIW.
I don't know if they "say" anything, I am probably not cool enough to know that. But they do look versatile enough to look nice with a variety of different outfits and looks

violincelloviola · 03/04/2025 18:16

I’m 38, is that middle aged? Anyway, I like them. I actually would say they are quite middle of the road, but not in a bad way - just that it’s the kind of style that lots of people are wearing right now.

alcoholnightmare · 03/04/2025 19:11

They say “hi, I’m green and pink with white laces”

Gardenhaurs · 03/04/2025 19:15

I like them didn't expect to but I do

CharlotteCChapel · 03/04/2025 20:03

I had a pair of vejas like those ,but in the years before everyone Tom, dick and Sally wore them.

ObliviousCoalmine · 03/04/2025 21:06

They say “I am a copy of Sambas”.

kanaka · 03/04/2025 21:09

They say that they are imitation adidas

DGPP · 03/04/2025 21:10

I like them and they don’t scream Boden

louderthan · 03/04/2025 21:12

I wouldn’t wear them and I’m 44. How much are they? I’d imagine they’re not cheap if they’re Boden. Just get some colourful Adidas.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 04/04/2025 13:46

I dunno - that colourway is a bit William Morris collaboration with a National Trust gift shop cushion for my liking. But they are perfectly innofensive.

TheOGCCL · 04/04/2025 14:16

Yes they seem fairly middle aged, I think that's what Boden does though?

MissGeist · 04/04/2025 14:19

They say I'm middle aged and not that sporty.
(I'm 50 and wear saucony and nike).

MrsMitford3 · 04/04/2025 14:21

They scream that they want to go bowling

B1anche · 04/04/2025 14:23

What is so terrible about being middle aged? Lots of us are. People aren't going to see you in those trainers and think "Oh god, I thought Redfox was so young until I saw her in those shoes, but she must be at least 35".

How old do you want to look?

Grafika · 04/04/2025 14:25

That the Adidas you wanted were out of stock.

DramaAlpaca · 04/04/2025 14:38

I have three pairs of those in different colours, so obviously I like them. I'm not keen on that particular colourway, but I can vouch that they are very comfortable.

Oh, and I'm middle aged and I won't wear clothing that's an obvious brand, including trainers.

I want to look (and feel) active and not 40 odd years away from death. I'm aware I have issues

😱 Oh no, I wish I'd never asked!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 04/04/2025 16:52

I'm so fucking tired of all the casual ageism on here. I don't love the trainers, but if I saw you in them, I wouldn't give them a second thought. I certainly wouldn't look at your feet and assume you were middle aged and therefore to be sneered at, as some people on here seem to think is entirely okay.

Yes. Your issues are that you are being ridiculous. You could be near death at any time, regardless of your age and your choice of trainers. What a stupid thing to say.

sommerjade · 04/04/2025 18:02

I’m 48 and I just don’t like them at all.

I would rather buy similar Adidas Gazelles or Sambas, if I wanted them. If you have to have green there are also Gola trainers like that.

The only point of high street shop trainers eg M&S dupes to my mind is when you can’t afford the real thing.. but Boden are probably not exactly inexpensive so what’s the point of them?!

Im going to say this and be honest and it’s just my opinion sorry but I feel I have to be very careful at my age that I don’t wear anything that one friend says is “too granny” (fine though if you want to look like a nanna) or on the other hand ‘too teenager’.

LadyLapsang · 04/04/2025 18:35

I’ve got a similar pair of Gola Elan green trainers, although the side stripes are dark, which I prefer, with just a flash of pink on the heels. I paid about £30 in a sale, although they appear to be selling them for £90 again.

Mary46 · 04/04/2025 19:09

They lovely op. Im 50s. Yes I would wear them

Shetlands · 04/04/2025 19:13

I like them but I'd change the white laces for some burgundy coloured ones.

Onlyonekenobe · 04/04/2025 19:46

I think the green says “inoffensive” and the metallic pink says “quite snazzy, actually”. So the epitome of middle aged I’m afraid!
