Anyone else with super wide feet? What do you wear?

Looking for trail running or walking shoes and getting sick of ordering stuff online and returning them because they are all just too narrow.

I have wide feet plus bunions on both sides and arthritic big toe joints so need a lot of space. I also have heel spurs so need cushioning and can’t have zero drop. Any ideas?

Me! I wear Hoka men’s trainers for sport and a lot of shoes from the next forever comfort range which work really well for me.

RubaiyatOfAnyone · 01/04/2025 16:33

Sketchers for everyday wear, esp the slip on trainers but everything from them has been fine.
i’ve had a pair of boots from hotter too but i’m never entirely sure if they look okay or a but frumpy. Comfy though.
for posh boots the ones i’ve had from Jones have been okay for width as long as i’ve gone for rounded toed boots.

I have flat feet and bone spurs.

Usual trainers are New Balance 574 with insoles from this company:

Orthotic company

My hiking trainers are from Salomon (I went up half a size in these).

I've bought men's trainers in the past as these tend to be wider.

Managed to find heel protectors from my local pound shop for the bone spurs. Something like this:

I love vionic shoes. They are pricey (but usually have a good sale) but they are so comfortable and not ugly.

PenguinLove1 · 01/04/2025 19:33

Hoka extra wide fit bondi trainers

weareallcats · 01/04/2025 19:34

My feet are probably average in terms of width but I hate feeling encased in shoes, so very much look for wide toe boxes, etc. I recommend vivobarefoot - takes a while to get used to the thinner soles, but they are a joy to wear if you like the feeling of freedom in your shoes.

ginnitonic · 01/04/2025 19:46

I have wide feet and wear men's Merrell trainers. I haven't found any women's trainers wide enough.

hexsnidgett · 01/04/2025 20:41

New balance wide fitting are the only ones that are actually wide enough. Bit pricey though.Shock

Cyclistmumgrandma · 01/04/2025 20:42

Keen men's walking shoes.

UpMyself · 01/04/2025 20:43

Unisex shoes tend to be wider in the toebox. If you are a smallish shoe size, try boy's shoes.
Running shoes tend to be small so go up half a size.
Nike tend to be narrow.
New Balance have a narrow and wide fit.

Dreamerinme · 01/04/2025 21:24

Fitville shoes and trainers are wide to extra wide fitting. Can be found on Amazon and other places.

I was going to recommend them too, but then I saw the OP doesn't want zero drop.

I have very wide feet.
i order sandals and boots from Simply Be. I’ve also found New Look to be the widest fit on the high street. In terms of trainers I generally buy Nike a size up.

Ah - I missed that, as not terminology I’d come across before.

SpringHasSprungg · 01/04/2025 22:30

I have a dodgy small toe and have to wear really wide shoes.

My best buys recently have been Bobs wide fit Sketchers trainers.

Lipsy wide fit suede slouchy ankle boot.

Sketchers post toe sandals with a back strap (not flip flop style).

Be careful buying a size up, t tried this and it really messed up my feet and my gait.

BarnacleBeasley · 01/04/2025 22:36

My trainers wouldn't work for you as I like a low drop but whatever you get, you can relace to give slightly more room in the toe box. If you Google lacing for wide forefoot you should get plenty of examples, it's basically just making sure the laces don't tighten across that part of the foot.

Ownedbykitties · 01/04/2025 22:40

Sole Bliss. It's online. Not cheap but especially made for wide feet, bunions and extra wide feet yet the look like they aren't. Worth a look. I have their trainers and some sandals. Not sure what they have in the way of trail boots or similar.

CinnamonJellyBeans · 02/04/2025 00:56

I also have bunions and arthritis in toes. I find that wearing arch support insoles really helps shift the weight off my toes.

VoltaireMittyDream · 02/04/2025 01:00

Xero shoes do amazing trail & walking shoes for wide feet. I’ve got their Xcursion fusion hiking boots which are wide and lightweight with a foot-shaped toe box and they are easily the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn.

Nat6999 · 02/04/2025 02:40

I'm an H fitting with bad bunions, I wear Adidas Court or Superstar trainers, I'm only a size4 but size up to a size 5.

Mix56 · 02/04/2025 04:07

I recently bought & sent back several pairs of walking boots after my beloved Merrells finally became too unstitched & no longer waterproof. (Keeping them for gardening, as so comfortable.)
Finally I bought Merrells again, they aren’t as comfortable as my old ones, but better than all the others I tried.
I buy mens size 6. Eu 40
I need big toe box, as damaged my big toe nail beds
My H can only wear Birkenstock shoes or Sketchers, (Monkey feet)

Purplemist · 02/04/2025 04:42

I wear Skechers mostly but if I need smart shoes I have two pairs of Clarks that are very comfortable.
