Use silicone free shampoo and conditioner and only brush it when wet. Then when damp, run a bit of conditioner through your hair and leave to dry.
If it frizzes, try spraying with water to get rid of the frizz and sleep with a silk pillow.

Your actual hair is a lot nicer than that image you’ve posted.

Thanks. I only use silicone free products, have done for a few years. I have a leave in conditioner/ styling product recommended on MN called Dr Pawpaw 7 in 1 which is silicone free also. My hair still gets frizzy!

If I don't comb it every morning it gets very knotty, can I wet it and comb it again in the morning - I only wash once a week as it takes ages to dry.

How much conditioner would you use after rinsing?

I bought some Davines curl cream from my hairdresser recently, thought I’d been had as it’s quite pricey but omg is it worth it. I used Aussie curl shampoo and conditioner, towel dry my hair, don’t even brush it, just run my finger through and scrunch the Davines stuff in then most importantly don’t touch it while it’s drying. Beautiful waves/curls appear and stay until nest time I wash it.

I suspect that hair has been straightened and then curled

Nosebooper · 17/03/2025 20:17

Ahh possibly! So a bit of a faff then?!

What is your natural curl/wave pattern? When your hair is wet and you’ve given it a little scrunch, what does it do?

If you brush it dry, you will get frizz. I sleep with my hair in a scrunchie on top of my head (pineappling) this keeps the curls (or waves if that’s your hair pattern) and prevents knots. You will always get some between washing but it’s not visible.

PlasticPassion · 17/03/2025 20:45

Tbh, I think the woman in that photo just has unusually thick hair. I really don’t think you could create that texture.

northfacespacerace · 17/03/2025 20:48

Lush curl power curl cream is the only thing that works on my wavy hair. I wash & condition, whilst hair is still soaking wet I smooth through some dr paw paw 7 in one then apply the curl cream, wrap in a tshirt to blot most of the water out then air dry with no touching!! Mornings I damp down then apply the curl cream in sections and again air dry without touching

It's quite curly .. I'll find a photo when it was left to go curly. These days I wash and condition, put some product in, then tie back and leave to dry. I never brush it, just comb once a day.

try sleeping with a silk pillow case too that really helps the frizz I find I only wash my har once a week too

You’ve got lovely hair op, I’m jealous! My hair is a bit like the models and I want hair like yours 🙈😂

Your hair won’t naturally go like the lady in the photo. You would have to straighten then curl as a PP said.

When I said brush, I meant comb as well. Also combing while dry will cause breakage in curly hair.

Oh my god, your own hair is gorgeous! Why would you want to change it?!
I would 1000 times prefer your hair to the one you want.
My 5yo told me the other day that she likes my hair because it reminds her of a troll doll .

Cavalierorwhat · 17/03/2025 21:22

I have curly hair that I dry smooth with the hairdryer and then run my fingers through to loosen and regain some separation. You'd also get the big wave bounciness by putting in large curlers when wet and allowing to dry. Then some product run through with your fingers.

Prettygreeneyes43 · 17/03/2025 21:29

Your hair is so similar to mine. I use umberto gianni curl jelly. Scrunch in when wet and diffuse. I pineapple at night and then refresh in the morning b spraying a bit of water and a little gel on. Wash every other day as it looks a mess otherwise. I don’t brush or comb other than when I wash it. Otherwise disaster.

My hair is like the photo provided (wasn’t she on taskmaster?) and it’s not straightened and then curled, just the method I posted above, ie leave to dry with curl cream. It it very thick though and takes ages to dry.
