Is it time to start summer sandal shopping?

I haven't bought sandals for ages. After a fight with a toe nail fungus my feet have been hidden for ages. But I am all clear, the toes can come out.

I have some sketchers flip flops for everyday slouching, I have some walking sandals for comfort and the commute as I walk a lot. What I am missing is something with a low heel, that looks good on a night out or with a pretty summer dress on my holidays. Comfortable to walk in, but a bit more dressy, not quite party shoes.

I have no idea what is in at the moment, or where to look....I usually shop in next because returns are easy! I have small but fat feet, not particularly elegant but I'd like to get them out again and I'd like a small heel to try to give the illusion I have legs, especially in my summer dresses.

Any suggestions. Thanks.

Hush Puppies have just got their heeled sandals in. They're really comfy and they have a variety of styles

Sorry not what you're asking but how did you get rid of the nail fungus?

Hoolahoophop · 24/02/2025 13:04

@Littleguggi antifungal tablets from the doctor alongside Emtrix twice a day. It took forever, and lots of blood tests to make sure the tablets were not destroying my liver. But there now. I had let it go rather than treating early during the new baby phase, then my GP refused to prescribe, then I found another GP who would. Happy to have it gone and get my feet out again.

@xmasdealhunter thanks, I would not have thought of Hush Puppies, I used to like them for comfort years ago. Will take a proper look, from a quick glance they all look quite...chunky.

@Hoolahoophop I do tend to go for a chunkier shoe so am probably unintentionally searching for them! But the cork ones at the bottom are 'smaller'

Cyclingmummy1 · 24/02/2025 13:16

Moshulu are my go to.

Hoolahoophop · 24/02/2025 14:48

@CharlotteStreetW1 i like those, though would like a heel. Everyone says fitflops are really comfortable, but when I tried them I found them really narrow. My feet are fat widest at the just before the toes (which are stupidly short and stubby), like a toddlers feet. Or a hobbit that's been shaved. Maybe on reflection I should just keep them locked up!

I do love it when you talk dirty @Hoolahoophop

@SquawkerTexasRanger what can I say, market research for my only fans page. Looks like I'm on to something 😉

I love vionic sandals. So comfortable and not ugly.

mdinbc · 24/02/2025 22:28

How about a simple gold sandal, they are comfy to wear but can elevate an outfit. Easy to bring on holidays with cobblestone streets.

I need to find an alternative to these Mint Velvet mules, because they’re a ridiculous price - but everything else that I find which is similar has too high a heel that a long-term leg injury won’t stand. Bought a lovely M&S pair on Vinted which would be perfect if the heels were this height. Needs to be a block/solid heel.

Save me (and my bank account) from myself, please MNers …

Nothing looks good on feet . Keep them covered 🤢

DGPP · 25/02/2025 19:34

You don’t need a heel. Just go for flats but in lovely silver or gold or similar. Russell and Bromley always have lovely sandals but it’s a bit early for them to be out. Gabor are always comfy I find as well

Ikeameatballs · 25/02/2025 19:55

I’m following, I’m going to Egypt at Easter and to force myself to buy new sandals I threw away my old faithfuls last year!! I have some good walking type sandals but I need a smarter pair with a wedge heel, ideally in tan.

I bought these Voss Zebra DM Sandals in the sale last month
