Insole for Converse with plantar fasciitis

I suffer with painful feet, if I wear flat shoes I get plantar fasciitis. Are there any insoles that make them comfy? I love my Converse, but the level of pain I'm in after wearing them is just not funny anymore!

I wear Fitflop slippers at home without any problems, Rieker boots are mostly ok and Birkenstocks in summer.

You can buy planter fascitis insoles online or from a pharmacy

Are there any you'd recommend?

I would recommend blue spot gel heel pads (various brands on Amazon but Scholl type are probably slightly superior).

I have these which were recommended in Vogue and work for me.

I wear fitflop shoes and trainers as they have an in built flatform and memory foam insoles.

I felt flitflop made my PF worse. The only shoe that worked was vionic. I also bought a regular pair of asics and went to a podiatrist for an in-sole. The converse will be aggravating your PF.

Converse are the worst for PF - they offer no arch support at all. Ditto Uggs. The only thing that worked for me was Asics running shoes (I think they were Gel cumulus) after nearly 2 years of trying everything. I'm not sure insoles are enough - they weren't for me anyway. Good luck!

I'm am the same OP. Have lived and loved my converse for years , also my sketchers . For the last couple of months when walking longer distances my feet have hurt in the arch area , my left foot being worse .
Yesterday I bought a pair of Vionics and whilst not cheap my foot arch instantly felt supported , they were so comfortable to the point I'm buying another pair in a different colour .

The shoe brand Ecco used to do leather 'converse' style boots which are super comfortable. They also do supportive insoles to use in other shoes, you might have to size up in the Converse though?

DD was once told when visiting a specialist with a not dissimilar foot condition that converse were just about the worst things you can put on your feet - completely flat, heavy, inflexible sole with absolutely no support. Having orthotics myself I would say the shoes are too shallow at the back to add anything other than a very basic inner sole to - boots might be slightly different but there are many better options out there, foot issues can be incredibly debilitating.

@crumpleduppieceofpaper I have Uggs with arch support so might depend on which ones.

I have 3 pairs that I move round my shoes. I haven't tried them in Converse because I cane them all to DD.

I struggled for years with sore feet & plantar Fasciitis. Vionic shoes helped, but custom made insoles are so much better. My foot arch has totally collapsed over the years & I need a pretty built up insole. I can get away with Joya shoes as they seem to have a very supportive mid-sole.

If you see the podiatrist on the NHS, they'll make you insoles and check your gait. It's so worth it. Converse have v little shock absorption and can make things worse tbh. Sketchers are much better.

Sorry the worse thing you can do for PF is to wear really flat shoes. Since having PF about 10 years ago I always wear superfeet insoles in my shoes and never wear completely flat shoes.

Agree with this! Converse made my PF worse, had to get rid in the end. A podiatrist can custom make insoles to wear in other shoes...

I've never been able to wear my converse again since having p f. Even now, I have no pain, but know it's just not worth wearing my converse again

Time to switch the converse I'm afraid. The insoles don't fit in them properly as they are so low cut. Since stopping wearing them I have had no recurrence of p.f.

I wouldn't give up on the converse. PF can get better. I bought the Amazon insoles linked upthread and they helped. Also bought the converse with the padded sole - okay, there's no arch support but the padding stops you thudding on the ground!

I don't wear my converse all the time but they are okay for when the PF has eased off a bit.

Sorry OP but you are going to have to put the Converse away for a while and treat the PF. I can’t wear Converse, Vans, Supergas etc at all any more. Look at Fitflops or Skechers, or see a podiatrist.

I have trainers, Sketchers, which are great, but in summer I like to wear Converse.

The main problem is not actually PF, I have fibromyalgia and get a lot of foot pain, wearing shoes with arch support helps, and memory foam insoles.

It depends what you mean by looking like Converse. You won’t get the very flat low profile in anything that supports your foot but Fitflop do their Rally trainer in canvas. I’ve never tried them but I’ve seen Vionic recommended on S&B before.
