Have leopard jeans had their day or are they still in style for 2025?

About to add a pair of leopard print jeans to my small and considered collection of jeans. I can see myself getting lots of wear out of them and they’ll work well with my current wardrobe but - are they still “in” for the coming year? Or are they now a bit dated? I’ve seen women wearing them (very stylishly) around my area (London) since early 2024, so worried I am too late to the trend to invest (as usual 🙄)

BTW - any posts about how I shouldn’t blindly follow trends etc. will be ignored 😁

I have no idea if they are in or out but I have never seen a pair on anyone or in the shops. For reference I live in a solidly middle aged, middle class environment. But I work in London in an 18-21 environment.

I think so. I was hesitant last year thinking it might only last a couple of months or so. I also really wanted a more wearable muted leopard which wasn’t around at the time so I ended up going for a T-shirt instead.

Wiennetta · 21/02/2025 08:50

I’m not sure. I think leopard jeans are always around to some level but they were a bit of a micro trend last year - especially the wider leg versions - and several people I know bought them. I personally wouldn’t buy any now as I think they’re probably past their peak. I also see so many people wearing them - including a couple of my mates - I wouldn’t want to turn up in the same outfit as someone else. Although if you love them and will enjoy wearing them then - why not? Outside of whether they are current, they can still look good.

festivemouse · 21/02/2025 08:51

I'd say there's quite a bit of leopard and other printed animal patterns about this year! However I've seen people wearing them even when not "in" and tbh styled well they can always look good even if they're not on trend.

I love leopard print - I have an M&S leopard coat ( darker tone) . Shops are full of leopard print tops/jumpers/cardigans and leggings.
I haven't seen anyone in leopard jeans now I think of it .

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 21/02/2025 10:29

I have two pairs - one in a dark brown print, straight/wide leg, and a paler print in a barrel leg, both from Abercrombie. The darker pair I have worn a lot with brown, burgundy, and red on top over autumn/winter. I also have the Damson Madder wide-leg drawstring leopard Rafe pants which I'm looking forward to wearing in the summer.

My TikTok's absolutely rammed with leopard print jean OOTD so I am really surprised at PP saying they haven't seen people in them out and about, or seen them in shops. M&S even had a load of them last week when I walked through (perhaps a sign the trend has indeed peaked!).

I've been reliably told that cow print is the next thing.

Beamur · 21/02/2025 10:40

I think I've seen literally one woman wearing them (looked great). But I love a bit of leopard print personally.

No ....... I'd look like Woody from Toy Story Shock

I could be persuaded by an Appaloosa print though (faux pony obvs)

I am not at all trendy , my DD mutters about Kat Slater when I wear leopard Grin

MiddleAgedDread · 21/02/2025 11:23

i went browsing the shops last weekend for the first time in ages and there seemed to be a fair amount of animal print jeans around, which then drew my attention to how many people were wearing them at the moment too!

ploppydoppy · 21/02/2025 11:25

I think they are still a growing trend tbh because it takes a while to hit the average person. I also subscribe to the view that animal print doesn't really go out of style.

ploppydoppy · 21/02/2025 11:25

I have two pairs that are pretty old.

KnutsfordCityLimits · 21/02/2025 11:26

I didn't buy them last year because I thought they'd be on the way out before they were really in, but they do seem still around. Get them if you think you'd get wear from them. Though I keep liking them then deciding not to buy!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 21/02/2025 11:26

I need to do some people watching I reckon. (in a Non Stalkery Way just FTR)

Going to big shopping centre this w/e so I'll see what's going out there .

I don't think TikTok is ever much based on reality. People often dress up to take photos and then change. I do see 1-2 pairs a week

Cow print has never really ever taken off.

WinWhenTheyreSinging · 21/02/2025 11:28

Seem to be bang on trend, in a muted and slightly wider leg way, if Instagram is anything to go by.

Fair point, but I am sitting supervising undergrads doing an assessment and two female students are in them today so they are in the wild!

Cocolapew · 21/02/2025 12:36

I'm another one who thinks leopard print never goes out of style. The black and white prints never really take off.

Well yes i've seen them in the wild as I've said & I have them 😆. They just aren't ubiquitous like they are on SM but I don't find anything clothing wise ever really is.

ploppydoppy · 21/02/2025 12:42

I love zebra on accessories but it's often hard to get. I have a few amazing pieces collecting over the years. I also like tiger but again that's often rare. Giraffe and cow aren't for me.

ploppydoppy · 21/02/2025 12:42

never liked snakeskin either particularly on clothes

rockstarshoes · 21/02/2025 13:28

New in at New Look so I would say so!

I really like them actually!
