I quite like these (could almost get away with them for work) and they are only £27 (and you can get them in lots of colours) these

foxinsocks · 10/05/2008 08:53

actually, don't like that khaki colour (is a bit neither here nor there). They even come in blue somewhere else on amazon.

ladytophamhatt · 10/05/2008 08:54

I tried these one yesterday and they look bloody awful.

Really frumpy, although when they were on the shelf they looked fine.

Don't do it.

foxinsocks · 10/05/2008 08:56

which ones? the ones I was looking at? I think quite a lot of fly's stuff has the potential for frumpy imo which is annoying because when they get it right, their shoes are stunning.

BBBee · 10/05/2008 08:59

it is hard with these kind of shoes because they look great on the site/shop but then when you put them on you look like someone;s mum (which you are but you know what I mean)

BBBee · 10/05/2008 09:00

oooh x-posts LTH - and frumpy that is what I was trying to say.

paddingtonbear1 · 10/05/2008 09:01

laundrylover where is this Jake Shoes?
I live near Stockport.
My SIL has some Art trainers and I couldn't find any round here (she got hers in London).
Like the FLY sandals, I like a lot of their shoes and boots.

foxinsocks · 10/05/2008 09:02

basically you're saying they're shit innit

I am very shoe fussy and take ages buying them. It's the one shopping excursion no-one ever wants to join me on! I have v narrow ankles so have to wear shoes with straps (for work) otherwise they fall off my feet all the time grrrr. Really limits the choice. Blardy summer shoes!

BBBee · 10/05/2008 09:02

these? with swishy floaty dresses.

foxinsocks · 10/05/2008 09:04

why do you think they called them Edna? Was it to appeal to the over 70s ?

foxinsocks · 10/05/2008 09:10

omg bee. Have you run away and thrown your sandals in the bin. I think they look ok in that patent black colour but I'm not sure about the toe bit (and I couldn't wear them, they'd fall off me feet!)

BBBee · 10/05/2008 09:12

lol - no i haven't. Am envious of your slender ankles though - a nice problem to have I think.

Oh I had not given much thouht to summer shoes - has been boot weather for ages not which is easy and now suddenely we need to paint our toe nails.

Patent black would be good - concur.

ladytophamhatt · 10/05/2008 09:13

The ones GGirl linked are frumpy....really bad when put on feet!

the ones foxy linked are FAB FAB FAB...but I do have a pair already

BBBee · 10/05/2008 09:14

boots can be elegant and comfy but summer shoes are elegant or comfy.

BBBee · 10/05/2008 09:16

are they nice on LTH? I like the red but for some reason that is £30 more expensive.

So are they comfy?
What do you wear with them?

Are the comf without the frump?

ladytophamhatt · 10/05/2008 09:19

I wanted the red ones but went for sensible dark brown in the end, the bright blues one are nice too. They are comfy butdo come up small, I usually wear a size 4 but fo rthe first tiem in my life had to get a size 5.

I've only worn them with jeans so far, its been too hot this week to wear anything but flipflops and as we've been on teh beach almost every day I'm not going ruin then on my stony beach.

foxinsocks · 10/05/2008 09:35

oh good lth, have ordered the dark brown (they are bargainous at £27. Not sure about the holes in the front bit though). I like the blue too (and really fancied the red) but won't get away with the colours at work annoyingly (hell, I know they aren't really work shoes but they'll do!)

DrNortherner · 10/05/2008 09:37

To answer OP yes I think they are frumpy. They look like something an OAP on a coach holiday would wear.

foxinsocks · 10/05/2008 09:38

nah slender ankles a bad look with big calves believe me and a PITA for summer shoes/sandals. Now boots, love boots me.

TheFallenMadonna · 10/05/2008 09:47

OP: I have them and I love them!

foxinsocks · 10/05/2008 09:47

look Bbee, they named these after you

ahundredtimes · 10/05/2008 09:53

oooh I quite like those in the red Foxy. But what do we think about the ankle strap? I wonder if I'll get away with it, as shoe has sufficient up lift.

Also why red ones SO much more expensive?

foxinsocks · 10/05/2008 09:54

yes, I like the red. I'm still not sure about the holes in the front bit but we'll see. I think red more expensive because they are the nicest. They have them in blue and other colours too if you look on amazon.

I saw some other hush puppies ones that were divine but not in nice colours....hang on..

foxinsocks · 10/05/2008 09:56

these ones

but don't like the plain colours really...though possibly ok in black with nice dress. I like the heel on the hush puppies one. More my sort of heel.

foxinsocks · 10/05/2008 09:58

I can't do without an ankle strap annoyingly. Unless I do no back at all iyswim.
