I've bought a few sweatshirts and pairs of jeans from Hush this year but all in the sale. I've found the quality good.

TheOriginalMrsMoss · 25/01/2025 18:54

They used to be one of my 'go to' online shops but I find it astronomically expensive for the quality now. I stick to the sales and buy second hand on Ebay. Too many disappointments.

That said, I did pay full price for their barrel leg jeans this season. I like them but they take ages to dry so I end up tumbling them dry. At £90 they were crazily overpriced.

I agree with pp that customer service is terrible. I has some satin cargoes that laddered at the seams after 3/4 outings. I returned them as faulty (a very arduous process, not the same as a simple return) and I received a very patronising email and a grudging refund.

I used to buy lots from between 6-10 years ago and was on the ‘ Hush ‘ threads - recognise @EllaPaella from there. I have bought much less over the last few years as felt their styling had lost its way. Everything too baggy, oversized and grungy which at 5’4 doesn’t work for me.
I am wearing their ‘ Nana jumper ‘ from back then this evening - I wouldn’t wear it out anymore but it’s still great for wearing at home. A lot of my wardrobe is still older purchases from them.
I did buy a couple of jumpers this autumn and a skirt in the summer sale.
Apart from their t shirts though I do think the quality is ok and certainly no worse than other retailers in the same price bracket.

Oh yes, I still have my Nana jumper too. I thought this might be its last year tbh but I sat and debobbled it carefully during the storm yesterday, and then hand washed it and today it’s looking very perky again.

MoleAndBadger · 25/01/2025 21:04

I like Hush clothes but the quality has definitely changed over the years - I never pay full price. T K Maxx often have items which are really cheap.

EllaPaella · 26/01/2025 20:24

👋 Hello @Nearlyadoctor, I remember you well from the Hush threads. Hope you're keeping well and interestied to know where your shopping habits lie these days!

BridgetRandomfuck · 26/01/2025 20:49

Oh, I didn’t realise their knitwear had form for being destroyed by the wash. I havent got much from Hush but last month I got a wool-blend jumper still with the tags from the charity shop - popped it in the wash following their instructions at 30c and it came out felted and bobbly, I was furious! But at least I hadn’t paid their prices for it…

Nearlyadoctor · 26/01/2025 21:08

@EllaPaella 👋 - all good thanks. Still some Hush, Mint Velvet, Holland Cooper, White Company. Still wearing the star jeans from a good few years ago in the slightly warmer weather , although have a sneaking suspicion the fairies keep shrinking the waistband 😂.
Tbh generally fed up with everything being polyester and very little natural fabrics, despite the criticism a lot of my older Hush knitwear and sweats are still going strong.
I bought some jeans from Stradivarius in Barcelona ( much cheaper than here) which are amazing but I did need them shortened , also got a couple of knitted tops from Massimo Dutti but unfortunately they don’t seem to be wearing well.
Where are you shopping these days? Any gems I’ve missed?

EllaPaella · 27/01/2025 10:44

@Nearlyadoctor bit random for me, I can't say I have a particular go-to place anymore but knitwear from Cos, Toast, Eribè have been my favourites over recent years. Nine Pine, Arket, River Island and Marks and Spencer seem to be the places I buy from the most. And I have developed a bit of an obsession for jeans and trousers from Free People 😁

EllaPaella · 27/01/2025 10:47

The star jeans! They were probably my all time favourite jeans. Unfortunately mine got a hole in the knee (but to be fair were absolutely worn to death). I wish they'd bring them back!

Drivingoverlemons · 27/01/2025 10:50

I have bought a couple of Hush jumpers and not been impressed by the knitwear quality/longevity and the T shirts are really
comfy but shrink but the jeans are good and I bought a lovely jacket recently in the Jan sale. Full price has got very pricey though.

I got some on eBay! Love them.

MugPlate · 27/01/2025 10:54

Never bought from them before but I saw some trousers in the sale and was so amazed that they were fully lined. I don't think I've seen fully lined trousers for years. I kept them.

sweetpickle2 · 27/01/2025 11:05

I did my first Hush order in the new year and was appalled by the quality, sent it all back. Bought a £200+ coat that felt like Primark quality.

ThePoshUns · 27/01/2025 11:11

I used to buy a lot from Hush but have found the last year or so it's all very samey.

marshmallowmix · 27/01/2025 12:45

There full prices are way too high; I got the Matilda cotton top for £5 at the sample sale no way is it worth £40 full price....you can get similar for half that in other shops...

Agree @sweetpickle2 re their coats the quality is terrible I saw a few at the sample sale where they were asking £60 for coats most were originally over £200 tried a few on and they were absolutely rubbish quality ...

@Drivingoverlemons what's the sizing like on the star jeans, I am a size 10/12 ,there's a pair in a 10 on ebay but they say the waist is 34 that's big for a size 10 do that mean I need a size 6? or as second hand maybe they have stretch out,

Drivingoverlemons · 27/01/2025 17:39

I have never had them before (despite having had my eye on them for years) and the sizing for mine was very generous @lindyloo57 . I got a preloved 14 and they are a roomy comfy fit which I was pleased about because a 14 in M&S feels too small these days. In fact I might even need a belt. Clearly Hush sizes large but that suits me fine at the moment 😂

pepperaunt · 27/01/2025 18:45

I, too braved the Hush sample sale. As PP mentioned, huge queue, overcrowded. And so many damaged items and non-natural fibers. Picked up some pyjamas and a cotton jumper. Definitely not worth the listed price!

2025istheyeari · 27/01/2025 19:02

Similar to others, I bought loads from around 2012-2020 but I’ve had too many things of exceptionally poor quality, jumpers shrinking, bobbling and jeans ( beloved star ones) just splitting- they weren’t too small but split from the stars. I haven’t bought anything for a couple of years. Sad as I really loved them!

creamsnugjumper · 27/01/2025 19:17

JustLikeThatBluebird · 25/01/2025 11:58

I still really like them but the quality can be very hit and miss. I got a gorgeous chunky cardigan a while back and it bobbled horribly after just a few wears, before I even washed it. Looks like I've had it for years not a couple of months and it cost over £100 :(

They've also started charging for returns, which really frustrates me as their sizing is all over the place. I emailed them to say I was disappointed with the change, also the fact that there was no notice that they would start charging (so I had to pay to return an order as I hadn't realised they'd started charging), and received a completely disinterested 'sorry you feel that way' response. I haven't placed an order with them since.

I'm trying to take it as motivation to buy fewer clothes.

Oh thanks for the heads up, I won't order from a company that charges.

The size 10 I had definitely did not have a 34 inch waist. I was a standard size 10 in Hush and have a 27/28 inch waist. I had those star jeans in a 10.

EllaPaella · 27/01/2025 22:11

Sorry tagged the wrong person! That was in response to @lindyloo57

Nearlyadoctor · 28/01/2025 09:48

@lindyloo57 I would say the star jeans were fairly true to size. My size 8 are a 26inch waist albeit they’re tight now as my waist has expanded 🙄

marshmallowmix · 28/01/2025 09:53

Apparently there is going to be another sample sale coming up soon at Sandown Park.
