i’d like to wear to for nice lunch dates, or casual evenings eg cinema. I would like to be comfortable but look well put together and stylish.

Any suggestions welcome. What to wear it with and how to dress, eg tucked in or not, something with the sleeves maybe? Jewellery, footwear?

I’m mid thirties, size 14 with a mum tum.

Indigo barrel leg jeans
Jumper French tucked a bit at the front
Shearling Birkenstocks
Gold hoops
Big beigey cashmere scarf
Long brown/camel wool coat or trench

ladygindiva · 25/01/2025 20:30

Wide/ straight leg loose fit pale blue jeans and cool trainers

Tipperttruck · 25/01/2025 20:30

Id have to wear a hazmat suit over it to stop me spilling things on myself.

ladygindiva · 25/01/2025 20:30

I think it's lovely

Bingbongbooboo33 · 25/01/2025 21:00

Ever heard of the 'Basic band'? It's something that makes your jumper look like it's tucked in when it isn't, you can do other things with it as well to make your tops more versatile. I don't own one or doubt I ever will, and I'm not a jumper tucker inner either but yeah, app tucking in at the front is the 'go to' look for many these days.
Saying that I'm getting on a bit & only care about comfort, so def cba checking if my 'tuck in' was straight all the time :D

How utter dullsville dreary dull, it looks like the sort of thing you would perhaps do gardening in. No one will compliment you wearing that, save your money.

Bad day?

thegirlwithemousyhair · 26/01/2025 11:35

If It was mine I'd wear it with a cream/stone pair of skinnies for casual. For smarter, a longish pencil skirt - maybe a knit in a similar shade with boots. The general rule of thumb is that if its loose on the top go tigher on the bottom and vice versa. Loose both top and bottom can look a bit, well, saggy.....

nutsandraisinsrock · 26/01/2025 11:58

This thread just goes to show you ask 50 people what they think and you'll get 50 totally different answers! OP I hope you can find some inspo from one of them at least - really interesting to see what other people think it's stylish is totally different to someone else!

I'm with the wide jeans, trainers and cashmere scarf/camel coat gang myself - I'd never wear a skirt. But that's just my opinion and someone else might think that sounds hideous 🤷‍♀️🤣

I said long straight skirt but it could be worn with a full skirt the way Cabbages and Roses do. If I'd been given it as a present that's how I'd wear it as the other suggestions made , although very useful, would mean buying something else, which this look wouldn't.

Why do you keep banging this drum?

Why do you "keep banging" on in a thread where you've had nothing useful to add except being rude?

Flopsy145 · 26/01/2025 16:36

Denim midi skirt and tan boots

I’ve said I don’t like a jumper. In a thread about said jumper. I haven’t inferred the OP’s mother was a woman of easy virtue, for heaven’s sake.

What are you on about?

You've added nothing to this thread. You don't like the jumper- why bother coming back several times to say that?

EasternStandard · 26/01/2025 19:50

Light trousers, not skinnies

Maybe light cream

Quite like the white shirt idea in pp too

I said it once. My only other posts have been in response to people who’ve addressed comments to me.

You posted about ComeHomeSoonPlease "banging on" She* *wasn't addressing you.

NiceCutRoundDomeDormice · 27/01/2025 04:07

Not in her second post, no. It was pretty clear who her first post was aimed at. Do at least try to read if you’re going to make a fuss.

IHaveAlwaysLivedintheCastle · 27/01/2025 11:21

Some ego you have there. It was obvious who ComeHomeSoonPlease
was replying to and it wasn't you.

ComeHomeSoonPlease was right tho' in her first post about the unnecessary rudeness. The question was how to style the jumper. Did you not understand the question? Well obviously you didn't.

HannahBanana04 · 27/01/2025 13:24

I would go for bootcut/flared black jeans (flattering on everyone, I think), and brown dangly earrings

What does your gut tell you in terms of styling?

ViaRia01 · 27/01/2025 17:53

@HannahBanana04
i tend to dislike baggy on too AND baggy on bottom so I think it would look nice with slim leather trousers/ leggings (if I had a better bum!) or skinny jeans. Lots of models seem to wear loose fitting top and bottom these days so I find it hard to see past that sometimes as I think it would definitely not work well on me. I’ve been wearing it with indigo bootcut jeans and black wide leg jeans. I like the idea of a leather skirt but would have to try it to see how I feel as I don’t have much confidence with this sort of thing these days.

You get one life, wear what you like op!! It won't end up on the front page of the paper.

Khayker · 15/02/2025 23:47

Sorry OK you can do much better for £78. I would style it with a hanger and leave it in the shop
