i’d like to wear to for nice lunch dates, or casual evenings eg cinema. I would like to be comfortable but look well put together and stylish.

Any suggestions welcome. What to wear it with and how to dress, eg tucked in or not, something with the sleeves maybe? Jewellery, footwear?

I’m mid thirties, size 14 with a mum tum.

She already has it, and it was a gift.

Which hadn’t been mentioned when those of us who said we didn’t like it - not an outlandish thing to do in a clothing advice forum - said it.

Wrong, at least two people posted today after OP said she already had it. Regardless, it was out of stock on the link when posted. I think it was pretty clear from that (and the fact the OP didn't ask should she buy it) that she already owns it. Anyway...

Given that I don’t like it, why would I have paid any attention to the stock level? I don’t see how it was clear she already owned it. I wouldn’t buy something if I wasn’t sure what I’d wear with it - that’s why I thought the OP was unsure about buying it.

But as you say, anyway…

In the bin, it's awful, but if you like it leopard skin skirt

I was thinking to team it with a long coat, buttoned right up to the neck. Out of sight, out of mind!

JollyGuide · 22/01/2025 22:06

i have a few drop shoulder jumpers like this but not pure wool unfortunately….I wear with a pleated midi and chunky ankle boots.

The original post asked for advice on how to style it- not whether anyone liked it or not. If you didn't know what it could be worn with, then there's nothing to say.

I think I'd wear it over a long, straight black or tan skirt.

Alabas · 22/01/2025 22:51

If you like the neutrals and that style I would go for things that have been mentioned. It’s a popular look for the Kardashian style aesthetic, maybe check out their instagram or similar.

Andovir · 23/01/2025 02:04

Imo jeans would render it invisible. I'd probably go with an A-line midi skirt in a heavy fabric, possibly even leather, and a not-too-chunky boot. Although I usually prefer heavier footwear, I would prefer to see something narrower and low heeled with this.

Applesonthelawn · 23/01/2025 07:42

I really like it but to show it off best you have to keep it tonal and in line with a cool luxe scandi type of aesthetic. Depending on what shapes suit you:

  • Wide leg trousers, floppy drapey fabric (to get the texture contrast), very flat across the stomach (no pleats), chunky brogues, chocolate brown or black, tucked in at front only
  • Midi skirt but I'd keep it straight not flared due to the shape of the jumper, again aim for a texture contrast, plain blouse in a neutral (could be dark) shirt (not blouse - man's style shirt) underneath, nice boots
  • Previous posters' suggestion of mini skirt, tights and brogues or hiking boots and socks would also work if you're a mini type of gal.
Definitely no leopard, no jewellery (simple aesthetic otherwise it gets drowned out). Concentrate on matching the shape (up and down) and the textures. It can look expensive if teamed well. Treat it as the main event and not the neutral thing you threw on when nothing else matched.
Applesonthelawn · 23/01/2025 07:55

Definitely not jeans.

SassK · 23/01/2025 09:43

It's a tricky colour/style for casual wear.

I'd wear black slim leg trousers/jeans with it (I'd only wear wide leg trousers with a fitted top/blouse). You can layer over your mum tum, with black trousers I'd do a bottom skimming black vest (vest only slightly more fitted than the jumper). Maybe black satin for the vest, and a black satin lightweight scarf would pull it together.

NiceCutRoundDomeDormice · 21/01/2025 20:25

Sorry, I agree. £78 for the blandest thing I’ve ever seen - and that’s the sale price 😳

i'm with you, its not smart, its bland and meh. even for £20 i'd pass. its unsophisticated and for that kind of money, i'd like to look like I'd made an effort.

Reiss used to be more stylish. what has happened?

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 23/01/2025 14:44

I’d wear tucked in with wide leg indigo jeans for something smarter, mid blue loose fit jeans (maybe just the front tucked in loosely) with trainers for more casual, possibly with a long satin skirt and boots with a small heel, also a-line mini with opaque tights and a chunky shoe. Gold jewellery.

Mirabai · 23/01/2025 20:04

Cream cigarette pants.

Grammarnut · 24/01/2025 00:14

Straight jeans. Possibly boots - to tone with jumper trim? Tuck jumper slightly at front.
Could dress up with smart black - narrow legged - trousers.

Bingbongbooboo33 · 24/01/2025 03:01

Jeans for casual, brown satin flared skirt & boots for more dressy.

ComeHomeSoonPlease · 24/01/2025 05:53

Denim skirt. Maybe a short one with chunky ankle boots.

Some unnecessary rudeness about the jumper here. OP didn’t ask about whether it was nice or worth the money. People who are nasty about others’ fashion choices often lack imagination I find.

fiorentina · 24/01/2025 09:41

How about wearing it over a slim fit denim shirt buttoned to the top so you just see the collar and blue jeans, tan boots and a tan bag.

Or with brown trousers or jeans - layering a few necklaces over the top to add texture.
Alternatively with a satin skirt and boots for a smarter day out.

Sparklesofdust · 24/01/2025 09:45

Black jeans and trainers
or
black skirt. Black tights and some boots

TheFlis · 24/01/2025 10:34

I think it would look good with navy wide legged trousers.

Skirt, white blouse underneath the jumper
Pull the jumper sleeves very up
let the blouse sleeves show
Fold the blouse sleeves up too
Loads of jewellery to glam up
Nice hair and make up to pull all together

😂😂😂

easylemonsqueezy · 25/01/2025 20:17

Stylists are always tucking in jumpers at the moment!
