i get trousers from topshop, they are long enough for me from the tall range. also next long is ok in some styles.

shrinkingsagpuss · 05/05/2008 14:09

oh yes, me too... trawled around bluewater, finding all the regualr lengths too short, and most of the "longs" too. next used to do an "extra long", but none of their trousers fit me anymore in anyway shape or form.

I did squeeze myself into a nice pair of M&S long trousers, straight stertchy jeans.. trouble is as soon as I got home, DH took them off!

flossish · 05/05/2008 14:10

I'm quite tall. I always end up with trousers not quite coming down to the bottom of my shoe right or else flapping about under my shoes... cue the 'worn hem' look a la teenage goths/surf dudes....

Stopfighting · 05/05/2008 14:10

Same here!

Amazingly thoug, last week I bought 2 pairs of NEXT wide leg trousers in a 12L. Often their XLong is too short.
I'm 5' 10.5". How tall are you?

I get a 33/34, usually a 33. New Look used to do great jeans with a 33" inside leg, but they seem to have stopped doing them. They have short, regular and 36" for tall people with longer legs, but no 33"!

DEf better too long than too short.

shrinkingsagpuss · 05/05/2008 14:17

no bloody wonder the "next" ones don't fit me then! M&S long are up to 33', though I'm not always a fan of their trews... tend to be a little grandmotherly, and v high waisted.

Yes, I wear 28/33 trousers and I agree it's not always easy.

Have some great new Et Vous jeans for the summer that fit beautifully .

I'm a 34, but all 34 legs seem to be a size 10. It's like tall curvy women don't exist

snowleopard · 05/05/2008 14:25

Me! I usually get long length trousers if available, but often they're not long enough so (esp with jeans) I take the hem down. I recently let down the hem of some Gap long-length jeans - the hem gave an extra inch, and there was just a 1/4 inch turn up left - I then sewed this bit back up, with a band of fabric stitched around the inside of the bottom of each leg to give the required weight. Works really well.

Or I make trousers, but only attempt very simple ones eg linen drawstrings.

snowleopard · 05/05/2008 14:28

Oh yes MrsMattie! They'll do long for size 12, sometimes 14, but not 16 long! (Gap is terrible for this... luckily I sometimes fit a 14)

Doesn't it occur to them that you are more likely to be bigger if you are taller? Grrrr!

Cammelia · 05/05/2008 14:32

Cod I too am 5' 7 with 33 inside leg. 32 too short but 34 too long.

shrinkingsagpuss · 05/05/2008 14:36

I have the opposite problem - I'm an 8 (in most shops), and rarely find a long enough "long". Mind you, I couldn't even do the button up on the nect 10's on saturday.... yet the M&S 8 was fine. freaky.

droopytits · 05/05/2008 23:02

i have this problem with all my work trousers - I have to wear heels with them. Same with jeans - I end up with frayed hems.

Work trousers are too short if i get long length but too long for extra length.
I've just had 5 pairs of lined trousers altered ready for the summer as i only wear flats with them and they will get ruined if they fray!

mixformax · 05/05/2008 23:10

Mrs Mattie - tried Long Tall Sally? They do 34", 36" and 38" inside leg. First time I tried some on I was hopping around the changing room in delight cos they were TOO LONG!!!

Wahayy!! (6ft tall and fed up with ankle lenght only) LTS are good for generous sizes, if a little frumpy on some stuff.

Good to find out about other stores though - got a few new places to chck out on next shopping trip. Thanks!!
