Have same prob - am 5 ft 9 but height comes from legs not body - and I like LTS in terms of length etc - got some good tracksuit pants from there - but I do wish they would stop using so many synthetic materials .....

Land's End used to do longer (US) lengths but only have a couple of styles now - cut not that attractive either ....

This could be a bit extreme solution for UK-based Msnetters but I go to Cologne or Amsterdam where there are lots of long-legged customers all looking for same thing ....

Also, like Snow Leopard, do a bit of sewing here and there ....tend to let hems down as soon as I get the trousers home, wash them with hems down (to avoid shrinkage problem) and then turn up less high - if that makes sense - all my home-made trousers have been disastrous though ....

I don't have access to a Gap here - how are their leg lengths?

I can only buy jeans from Long Tall Sally, or similar- 36 inch trouser leg.

OrmIrian · 06/05/2008 10:06

33" Hah! What are you complaining about? Try getting 36". Top shop. Gap on a good day.

I'm a 33" inside leg and find miss selfridges jeans are good.
Also i bought some in Primark the other day that were too long, I was really surpised.

OrmIrian · 06/05/2008 10:16

I found that malory. I had 2 long pairs (long and lean) one was huge on the hips and brushed the floor. The other was tight and came just below my ankle. I think it might depend on where they are made.

iMum · 06/05/2008 10:17

I have a 34 inside leg, and am 5ft11-mostly tho all legs.
I get my trews from Long Tall Sally-only place I can actually.
Its a bugger

squilly · 06/05/2008 10:25

I have nothing to add...I have a 33 inside leg, being 5'11" and I used to have terrible trouble buying trousers

It was usually M&S, which as stated are often a bad fit at the crotch, or LTS which are often poor value for money imo. You can get some great stuff from them, but you have to be careful with the fabrics...and many of them are man made/unwearable/horrible after they've been washed once!

Dorothy Perkins started to have a tall range, but I haven't been in for yonks. It was my store of choice for a while being cheap and cheery enough for me to go in.

I have found some supermarket brands going into the longer leg lately though(Sainsbury's for example) and have managed to get a pair of evening trousers from there which were a reasonable fit.

Next are always a good choice too, though it's the outlet stores for me more often than not and the long can be just right, too long or not long enough, depending on the time of day, the relationship of the moon with the sun, the length of my shadows.....??!!

It's good to see some of the other stores that provide for us tallies... It's better than it used to be, but I'm sure it wouldn't kill a lot of these places to do more. And why do they think we're all tall and thin?? A size 16 seems to be deviant with the longer lengths, but I'm sure a lot of us are well covered and therefore a larger size than our more vertically challenged friends.

Levis
Zara
Boden

all can provide you with longer leg trousers

there must be more but I know these ones for sure.

cupsoftea · 06/05/2008 13:47

try Landsend

booge · 06/05/2008 13:50

Shucks it must be hard being leggy, says she with the 29" legs (equally hard to buy for but without the advantages)

booge · 06/05/2008 13:52

I'm the opposite to you cod, freaky short legs, I'm only 1 inch shorter than you.

Quattrocento · 06/05/2008 13:55

Me too

There are lots of places to get nice trousers that are long enough now - it used to be a real pain.

The designery places are still a bit painful and involve alterations etc but almost all the high street do trousers that are long enough. Try Next longer length. M&S too.

squilly · 06/05/2008 14:31

booge...the grass is always greener, I'm afraid. I would have loved to be short when I was younger.

And speaking personally, being tall gave me dreadful confidence issues when I was younger, though I do appreciate my height now I'm 40+. I find it allows me to carry a little extra weight without worrying too much, though too much extra and I start to look like a butch American Footballer

It's like the boob issue. Too little and you worry about whether you look feminine. That was me at 19. Too much and you think you look like a drag queen who's over-egging the pudding. That's me now! And you get the health issues etc.

But I guess there are worse things than long/short legs and small/huge boobs. It's just you can't think of them when you're in the changing room trying to get that perfect outfit

Tutter · 06/05/2008 14:33

oh yes me too long leggedy

always have to buy long lenths then have them shotened
