Quality clothes for tall women?

HelloSunshine2 · 08/01/2025 22:07

I am 6ft tall and buy my clothes from specialist tall ranges through retailers like asos, next, long tall sally etc... i need the extra length on the legs and sleeves, however the quality of materials is never very good.

I'd really like to invest in some quality knitwear, have a properly warm long padded coat and jeans that are that thick, stiff denim and not the stretchy thin stuff!

Has anyone found a retailer that happens to cut leg and sleeve lengths longer than the average and offers really good quality items that will last? Please let me know!

M@S are usually good for long length trousers.

Passthecake30 · 08/01/2025 22:24

I’m another 6ft-er and would say no! I’m also stuck with the same shops and the same quality. Can you splurge on accessories instead?

wavingfuriously · 08/01/2025 22:37

me too, I would say M&S woolens not too bad length wise but check b4 buy. Celtic and Co do some long length knitwear , no idea re quality. LTS quality not good, it's a shame

wavingfuriously · 08/01/2025 22:38

and M&S do long length trousers 👍

fluttershyby · 08/01/2025 22:46

Try Ariat for jeans.

NeedAFuturePlan · 08/01/2025 22:46

Woolovers is good for knitwear.

Me&Em looks good in general (expensive though).

Have you seen the Tallternative group on Facebook? You could ask the same question there - they tend to have great ideas!

NeedAFuturePlan · 08/01/2025 22:48

Levi’s too for jeans (online)

Is that tallternative retail pls?

garibaldiscake · 08/01/2025 23:07

Max mara leave trousers unfinished so you can have them tailored to the right length. Expensive though.

I'm also 6ft and buy all jeans and trousers from M&S as they have tall sizes. I've also bought men's trousers and jeans from H&M as you can choose the length.
I buy tops from Hush, they are not longer length but if I buy L they are usually long enough.
Boden do great longer length swimsuits which I swear by. Better than the old days of swimsuits disappearing up your bum!
I buy blouses that are 3/4 length - fat face are long enough for me. This time of year is awful as my wrists are always exposed to the cold

Hi! I’m just shy of 6ft and, other than a few pairs of Topshop Tall jeans, I don’t think I have anything that’s especially made for tall people.

I like:
Jeans - Levi’s ribcage or Citizens of Humanity (not all styles, but some are long enough)
Knitwear - Cos, Arket, Raey (via Vinted) all good, sometimes & Other Stories
Basics - Cos, Uniqlo men’s, H&M and Zara can have some good bits
Coats - Cos (puffer), Jigsaw (wool)

MilitantFawcett · 08/01/2025 23:22

I got some lovely trousers from Saint and Sophia. I think their long length trousers are around 36in.

MilitantFawcett · 08/01/2025 23:24

Ooh also Victoria Beckham blouses and tops have very good long sleeves for tall girls with waists in the right places. Which is odd as she’s quite short isn’t she?!

Shopgirl1 · 08/01/2025 23:30

6ft also. My favourite jeans are Levi’s too. I don’t find M&S tall jeans long enough.
I can usually find tops and jumpers in Cos, Arket, M&S, even Zara.
I find dresses harder, often too short and waist in wrong place - it’s just luck when I find a dress that works really, I don’t have any go to store.

Yes, that’s the one!

HelloSunshine2 · 09/01/2025 18:33

Thank you for the tips. I also don't find m&s quite long enough and have also found their denim has thinned. I will look at Levi's... had assumed they wouldn't do 36" leg.

Will also check out cos, arket and the other suggestions here. I do love vinted but as it's hard to get the right length on the sleeve, i'm worried I'll end up having to resell everything! Would just love some knitwear that wasn't super flammable and bobbly within a week 🙄

They declined me

Andywarholswig · 09/01/2025 18:37

Am 6’1 and hunting for the same thing. I have found All saints really good for quality leather jackets and coats this season - M&S is also too short for me in trousers.

LadyChilli · 09/01/2025 18:43

Reiss is very good. Their trousers are longer than M&S long by some margin and I have knee boots from there that are taller than the Duo Boots longest available length ❤️

StiggyZardust · 09/01/2025 18:44

I'm 5'9" and have a couple of jumpers and a dress from Aligne. They are very long for me, might be worth a try?

Shopgirl1 · 09/01/2025 19:01

Levi’s only have 36 length in a few jeans, very hard to get, but I actually find their 34 length can be quite generous, it works for me in some styles, especially with trainers.
Also a lot pricier, but Donna Ida has a few styles of jeans that are very long. The Minnie style is great.

BigCheese24 · 09/01/2025 19:07

I'm 5ft 11 with a 38' inside leg - I feel your pain.

I usually do most of my shopping from Next and M&S tall ranges, but I've also never found a solid pair of jeans to last the course of time.

LTS was great before it got bought over. Now the quality is terrible. My husband bought me pyjamas for Xmas and they've got a hole already!

thebrowncurlycrown · 09/01/2025 19:19

Sorry, no suggestions and I'm 6ft 1.

Jellybaby30 · 09/01/2025 19:53

Ditto am 6 ft 1 and have no solid answers or jeans! Agree, old Lts quality far superior and at least made to actually fit tall people all over rather than high street shops who just add an inch on the bottom but actually random parts of us are long - most bra straps are too short on my shoulders even at longest length. My 4 ft 11 TA and I were discussing our issues today - cold wrists def annoy me in winter! I have some White Stuff winter jumpers which are a decent length on sleeve and body
