Best: a gorgeous raspberry-coloured long A line tweed skirt from Boden for £15. Fantastic quality and looks amazing on.

Worst: a Bardot top from Hobbs. The photos disguised the fact it was cut like a maternity top. Wasted £15 plus another £10 trying to getit altered to suit. Now going straight to the charity shop.

(I'm excluding the two items I sent back to sellers, faded/damaged dresses that were described as "very good" but were unwearable.)

Best Buy Super M&S jeans in a discontinued style which I’m wearing today for £3. Worst buy a designer brand suit described as very good condition, it arrives stinking of smoke and so many bobbles and pulled threads so not good at all. It was only £12 but I was so disappointed. Chalked that down to experience!

Sayoonara · 26/12/2024 08:11

Had quite a few best buys - various jumpers and tops, not designer names just M&S, Boden and And Other Stories, but I was really happy with them.

And a few worst. The very worst was a summer top with elbow length sleeves. The body of it was fairly wide, maybe up to a 14. The hem of the sleeves though was unelasticated and I couldn't get it much past my wrist. I find it hard to believe it would be suitable for anyone. The brand was Fig and something.

itsnothingoriginal · 26/12/2024 08:15

Best - a Mint Velvet shirt for a fiver that hadn't been worn more than once and everyone compliments me on when I wear it....lush!

Worst - a Boden dress advertised as ,'worn a handful of times' and had clearly been shrunk in the washing and was covered in bobbles. Hadn't been obvious from photos 😕

You win some, you lose some but I still love Vinted and barely buy anything new these days!

Writerinneed · 26/12/2024 08:20

Best: Full length Superdry ‘duvet coat’ for watching DCs doing outdoor sports. Warmest item of clothing ever & a total bargain.

Worst: ‘New without tags’ hoodie that arrived faded, misshapen (pic was definitely not of the hoodie I received) & with a snotty tissue in the pocket!

TheWayTheLightFalls · 26/12/2024 08:31

Best: a BNWT Toast jumpsuit for £40. £10 to alter and it’s perfect.

Worst: no buys but as a seller the two people who hassled me to post quickly and then didn’t collect their parcels; which were then sent back to me. Argh.

GinForBreakfast · 26/12/2024 08:32

@itsnothingoriginal I know. I wander around shops thinking "how much??" And then go back to Vinted.

Best - two wedding guest dresses for 2 of the 3 weddings I was invited to last year (Phase Eight, Monsoon, both worn once, dry cleaned and immaculate). Also a Passenger jumper I loved on their website, but couldn't justify the cost. Saw it on Vinted and snapped it up. Again immaculate condition for a fraction of the cost.

Worst - a dress for the third wedding I was attending. Seller said it had never been worn. It arrived with sweat/deodorant stains under the arms, food stains down the front, and pockets full of confetti and crumbs!

Have also had other items, a jumper and a top, described as "worn once, very good condition" arrive stained and obviously well worn - yuck!

Illjusthavethebreadsticks · 26/12/2024 09:44

Best: a gorgeous river island oversized coat that was immaculate.

Worst: a pair of flat sandals that I had been advised had been worn once that literally fell apart the first time I wore them !

Frangywangywoowah · 26/12/2024 09:47

Best: black velvet jacket like new, Next £20. Worn several times over this month and had compliments each time. Also a Joules new, padded long coat. It's super warm. £50 whereas new in shop was £170

Worst: I've not bought much so nothing springs to mind.

BridgetRandomfuck · 26/12/2024 09:50

Had lots of great buys, perhaps the best was a pair of Maje loafers that I live in. The worst was a top that when I opened it smelt absolutely god awful - not BO or anything, but like off curry or something rotten, like it had been in a bin 🤢. I complained and the seller refunded me instantly, so she must have known. Just minging.

Doggymummar · 26/12/2024 09:59

Gosh, so many bargains, no duds. Favourite is probably Duotex Tamaris boots I got for £12, well over 100 new and clearly never worn. Plus lots of bras for £1 each, I've lost 5 stone this year and gone from a 36 HH to a 30/32 FF/g so it's saved me a fortune as they don't fit for long.

Cottonheadedninhymuggins · 26/12/2024 10:03

I got a Barbour jacket for £15 which has been worn a lot.

Worst are things that come and don’t fit but that’s a risk you take. That and stuff marked as very good condition that definitely isn’t. Things like jeans fall into these categories.

Plump82 · 26/12/2024 10:13

Best - a buttery soft, grey leather vintage jacket. Not to everyone's taste but the seller accepted £2 and I love it!!
Looking back, I don't think anything was bad. There were some things that just didn't suit but I guess that's the chance you take!

anon2022anon · 26/12/2024 10:18

@Frangywangywoowah I may have been the one who sold you the velvet jacket if it's a blazer 😊

anon2022anon · 26/12/2024 10:26

My best buys:
This Arket satin maxi skirt for £15, worn in every season so far this year
A calf length heavy m&S coat for £15
Lots of kids stuff

Worst buys:
Nothing really bad this year- I've learnt to ask for more pictures. One kids coat that I didn't realise had a melted bit inside the lining (iron/ radiator) until I'd left positive feedback, but it is in general a great £80 coat for £10, so I just bought a patch and it's okay.
Lots of stuff didn't fit/ suit, but most has been sold back on.

My best is a mauve tweed wool coat from Ness for £15, beautiful quality and if it had been worn you couldn't tell.

Worst, hmm. Had quite a few that didn't fit well but that's always a risk. The 'new, never worn' blazer with a fake nail and some (unused!) dog poo bags in the pocket was a surprise. A new without tags linen jacket with ground in dirt on cuffs and collar, easily disputed and returned.

I received a parcel on the Xmas eve which I've only just examined properly, a 'worn once' cashmere jumper. It looked new so I marked it off but I've just seen the pits inside are coated with dried deodorant and there's a slight wiff 🤢 I'll see if it survives a wash but I wish I'd checked properly and complained.

TeamPolin · 26/12/2024 10:33

Best:
Lucy and Yak beige dungarees, NWT, £19.

Worst:
Apricot coloured cropped cardigan from White Stuff. Despite being my regular size, it was waay too short and tight. Made me feel like a hippo.

Tracystubbs · 26/12/2024 10:33

Best-a gorgeous pale pink dress that I'll wear to ds's wedding/dgd's christening

A pair of cream shoes from some posh brand (£170+,I got them for a fiver)

Jeans that fit so well, they could have been made for me

2 handbags-£5 each

M&s coat-been looking for ages for that coat

Evens coat-gorgeous

2 pairs of toms shoes

Worst-jeggings where the elastic had gone in the waist so fell down

Grey coat-sleeves so short they wouldn't have fit a toddler

Ugg boots-they where 'very good' and 'immaculate'
Utter bollocks-they where falling apart

A tee-a pair of jeans arrived so I contacted the seller who had mixed them up which wasn't ideal but mistakes happen
I sent them back at my own cost and the seller sent me a message to tell me to buy the tee
Ended in death threats-vinted didn't want to know

925 silver earrings that turned out to be plated and not genuine silver

Love vinted but it's a mixed bag

TempestStormAndWine · 26/12/2024 11:58

Best: a lovely brand new top from Sezane.

Worst: as a seller, an item that Evri lost in the post. The buyer got a refund and I got the money in the end. The item arrived back at my address over a month later with it's packaging all waterlogged and torn, and the item inside ruined. Someone within the Evri process had clearly dropped the parcel in a muddy puddle or something!

@itsnothingoriginal I know. I wander around shops thinking "how much??" And then go back to Vinted.

I do exactly the same! H&m jumper for 35 quid?? No thanks! I've managed to get mint velvet and white company jumpers which I love for less than ten pounds- I live in Europe and vinted here has sellers in Poland and other Eastern European countries and I swear they'll sellers get truck loads of British high street clothing...m&s, next etc and they are always extremely cheap!

henlake7 · 26/12/2024 12:19

Best (sooo many!)

  • a lovely tweed trenchcoat for £15
  • several Joanie and Joules jumpers for around a fiver each
  • a £5 black biker jacket Ive been wearing constantly
  • £3 M&S chunky boots in immaculate condition
  • a pair of New Look leopard jeans BNWT for £15 that Ive been hunting for for ages.
  • every Joanie dress Ive bought (ranging from £4-£15)

Worst-
-a floaty boho top with a hideous neckline

-a 'hardly used' black leather handbag whose straps are practically worn through(thankfully you can buy new bag straps!)

-oh, and everything that Ive bought as a size 10 and has arrived as a size 12 or 14 and been too big....will people please put the correct sizing down!

almondflake · 26/12/2024 12:46

Best were 2 beautiful dresses from boohoo and quiz , a jacket from tog24 all new with tags , worst was a pair of pants from nutmeg, brand new with tags that were the wrong shape for me but they'll suit my daughter .

Hodge00079 · 26/12/2024 12:49

Best: Walking boots. Just over £20. I had been to shop to see which ones I liked. They were £50-60. So looked on vinted.

Worse:Fleece

I already had fleece in blue. I liked the style and fit so wanted in another colour.

It was shrunk and zips twisted. The pocket zips twisted so the bottom does not lie flat. There was no description. I went back to seller. They said the photo shows crooked zip. To be fair it did. However, just looked like it was laid no quite flat. My only option was to return it. Losing the postage which was more than item. Packed it up to send back. Lockers full so driving around to find one. Seller didn’t bother to pick up so in the end got full refund. To be honest it put me off buying on Vinted for quite a while.

Best buys were both M&S Autograph, a long black dress with blouson sleeves that I wore yesterday, and a new without tags wool and cashmere coat which is stunning quality. Also got a Dorothy Perkins checked coat that I really like, and a beautiful khaki animal print shirt dress from Zara. Oh, and another brighter green shirt dress that I wore in the summer.

Worst - I bought a “very good” kids coat that arrived dirty and with small holes in the cuffs, but got a refund without problems and seller was apologetic.

dudsville · 26/12/2024 13:01

My best are two jackets. I decided this year that I need jackets, and these are perfect.

New category "Medium" purchases were a dress and a skirt - these are fine, but they were just the result browse shopping, I didn't need them.

Worst was a cardigan listed, of course, as "very good", bobbled and quite worn. I sold it on, correctly described, for the price I paid, and the buyer listed it for sale before she recieved it, for £30 more. Hassle and mild irritation.
