Pyjamas to wear while staying at someone’s house

We’re spending a few days over Christmas at a relative’s house and I want a really nice set of pyjamas. (I don’t usually wear pyjamas - I wear old t shirts and leggings if it’s cold!)

These relatives are fairly well off and have really nice taste.

Recommend me some super nice pyjamas! Will spend up to £160ish.

Don't have any specific recommendations but for staying at someone else's house I'd look for a nice robe rather than expensive PJs.

I like stripe and stare pyjamas. They are so silky and comfy. I have asked my partner for a new set for Xmas.

msmatcha · 15/12/2024 22:21

Look at The White Company.

EmmyPankhurst · 15/12/2024 22:21

Cyberjammies.

Or if it's likely to be cold brushed cotton ones from seasalt or hush.

HollyGolightly4 · 15/12/2024 22:22

Uniqlo!

Lilactimes · 15/12/2024 22:22

I like the White Company.

They are gorgeous. Do need ironing though, so beware!

I think that the first reply has a point - I’ve read lots of posts on here about parents/in laws not putting the heating on so people being really cold.

Cakemaker2222 · 15/12/2024 22:24

Another vote for Cyberjammies

Fuzzyandwarm · 15/12/2024 22:25

Do they definitely wear pyjamas outside of the bedroom?
At my PILs nobody sets foot outside of a bedroom unless fully dressed or swiftly moving to a bathroom!

Fireworknight · 15/12/2024 22:27

Wow, that’s a lot of money on pjs, especially if you don’t wear them often.

These are from M and S, and are lovely and a fraction of the price you want to spend. You could use your budget to also get a nice dressing gown, plus slippers.

Chelsea Peers are my favourite PJs

hattie43 · 15/12/2024 23:23

Chelsea Peers , Seasalt and Hush are my go to places for PJ's

HelenaJustina · 15/12/2024 23:25

I love Hush, the cotton ones are so lush. I’m hankering after brushed cotton or flannel and will see what I can pick up in the sales.

Sleetwave · 15/12/2024 23:29

If I’m staying at someone’s house I probably wouldn’t be wandering around in pjs! Unless it’s to nip to the bathroom. I like White Company, Chelsea Peers and the nap co though.

pizzaHeart · 15/12/2024 23:30

Are you sure that wearing pjs outside bedroom will be appropriate?
I could imagine me (on my own) visiting a friend (on her own) and sitting in our pjs but otherwise I only wear pjs for bed, trip to the bathroom or for a glass of water at night.

JC03745 · 15/12/2024 23:36

Where will your guests see you in PJ's??? Do you normally all sit around watching TV in your PJ's?

I would not be wandering about bra-less in any PJ's in someone else's home. A robe/dressing gown to the loo if no en-suite in my room. Otherwise, I stay dressed until I get into my bedroom and get changed into whatever clothes I normally wear to bed. (or wear nothing in DH's case)

Bellaboot · 15/12/2024 23:40

Last Christmas my brother and family stayed and my SIL would always be sitting at the kitchen table all morning in her pyjamas in her laptop. It was really odd in our house as we all generally shower soon after getting up or perhaps go downstairs briefly to get a cup of tea in a bathrobe.

I guess it's what you're used to but we certainly found it strange. Leggings and t-shirt would be fine but if you really want pajamas, the White company.

RolyPolyOll · 15/12/2024 23:43

Good old M&S!

SereneCapybara · 15/12/2024 23:43

I go on holiday with a wealthy friend every year. She always comments Nice PJs if I wear the White Company candy striped cotton ones. Not if I wear the (much more comfortable cotton jersey) Primark ones.

KittenPause · 15/12/2024 23:57

Why would they be seeing your PJs anyway

I'd be up showered and dressed before seeing them other than on my way to the bathroom and you can wrap a towel around your usual T shirt

KittenPause · 15/12/2024 23:58

Or dressing gown

hobbledyhoy · 16/12/2024 00:15

Their Nibs

Idrasss · 16/12/2024 09:32

Thank you for these, everyone! Looking at them all now.

Last time we went there (10 years ago)!) everyone wore pjs on Christmas morning to open their presents (we all have children who were / and still will be up and excited).

I don’t know what the form will be this year - but I want to be prepared just in case!
