Pyjamas to wear while staying at someone’s house

We’re spending a few days over Christmas at a relative’s house and I want a really nice set of pyjamas. (I don’t usually wear pyjamas - I wear old t shirts and leggings if it’s cold!)

These relatives are fairly well off and have really nice taste.

Recommend me some super nice pyjamas! Will spend up to £160ish.

Whatever the ‘form’, for wandering around someone else’s house in the morning a dressing gown (not a bathrobe) is the important garment. In my experience it’s only on TV shows that grown adults socialise in pyjamas alone - because it’s not a comfortable experience in real life.

Have a look at Toast for desirable options.

160 on pajamas that you wo t wear again? Insane. M&s and next have nice ones

Like PPs said, The White Company. I'd also suggest Aubade

If I’m staying at someone’s house I probably wouldn’t be wandering around in pjs! Unless it’s to nip to the bathroom. I like White Company, Chelsea Peers and the nap co though.

Kind of depends how close. But generally I and any guests would have a cuppa in pjs/ dressing gown without thinking about it.

For traditional plaids or plains, PJ Pan are my favourite. They're closing down, though, so not sure how much stock is left.

For a more budget version, Hush or Fat Face are perfectly nice and cosy, and I'd spend the rest on a nice robe.

There's also Lands End, British Boxers, Cyberjammies, Bedfolk, Piglet in Bed. Noctu do very nice jersey nightwear in plain, soft colours if you wanted something more loungeweary than obviously pyjama-y.

BlackCat25 · 16/12/2024 10:28

The White Company has a good range of quality nightwear

EvelynBeatrice · 16/12/2024 10:28

Not super expensive but I have two pairs of tailored Cyberjammies in tasteful prints that can almost pass as daywear if worn with sleep bra. I’d go for tailored shirt type top and all cotton fabric.

EvelynBeatrice · 16/12/2024 10:29

Matching robes too

Thank you for these, everyone! Looking at them all now.

Last time we went there (10 years ago)!) everyone wore pjs on Christmas morning to open their presents (we all have children who were / and still will be up and excited).

I don’t know what the form will be this year - but I want to be prepared just in case!

How old are children? Because I can understand that with small children wearing pjs will be acceptable but if they are teenagers now it’s different.

wonkylegs · 16/12/2024 10:41

My cymberjammies ones are definitely house guest material
I also have a beautiful pair of ted baker ones (satin print button up shirt & bottoms) from a few years back - not sure if they still do them

The youngest is six, the oldest is 13 - so a range but not the toddlers / babies of last time!

I would ask the host then and would probably have something for the house which is not pjs.

Primark have some velour pyjamas in at the moment for around £20 but they look high end. Save yourself the money if you'll only wear them once in a while.

MaltipooMama · 16/12/2024 16:13

Another vote for the White Company from me!

Shinyandnew1 · 16/12/2024 16:30

Lands end do nice pyjama bottoms.

Wordau · 16/12/2024 16:52

I've had nice ones from Calvin Klein.
