Ta-dah

Go on, it's nice right?

Heh, really didn't see myself in white but hey, too pretty a dress to resist.

I wanted to say thank you to all of you who put in loads of advice on the other thread and to apologise if any of you felt like you'd wasted your time. You certainly didn't, that dress will still be worn (when repaired) to many a party! But I'm just relieved to have sorted something for the wedding.

Disclaimer: I had to use the camera timer for the first time and then run back to get in shot and pose whilst supervising two toddlers who were imitating me.

Other dress.

I had been waivering so I came on here and everyone was excellent so I felt much better and was all set but then.......

I spoke to my mum.

She said. Nothing. for a long time. then said. hmmmm well I sure it'll be fine.

No noooooooooooo. In that special way mums have she managed to remind me of all the reservations I had and add some in to boot.

So I went to try on dress with all recommended mn accessories I'd bought and then discovered a rip in the back. Noone is fessing up. It isn't enormous but it was enough to make me feel somewhat tainted or fated or summink.

So I had a minor breakdown rethink and went shopping again.

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooh

Yes. Tis wrong. Very wrong. Def omen.

Fab new dress

Flame · 30/04/2008 21:01

(NappiesGalore - I have added you to the xmas meet)

edam · 30/04/2008 21:02

Oh nooooooooo! Bloody hell Slur, if I were you I'd be giving up about now and getting married in my jeans...

(Actually had nightmares with my wedding dress - the eventual finalist was only finished and delivered about 11.30 on the day. Poor emergency dressmaker sat up all night to rescue it!)

S1ur · 30/04/2008 21:02

Prefer those first ones of yours pootle, someone very clever in these things said last time that short people shouldn't have straps round their ankles.

I didn't really mean I wanted jewels was more concerned that it might be too much.

Thank you Mehdis and Nappies.

June 21st, party is at our house so if your local to Sheffield Ah actually on second thoughts, does anyone have a mansion they could lend me?

other dress now for future party/first available occasion.

Good grief Edam That must have been a bit scary! I hope you had waterproof mascara on I'd have been in bits I think.

I was pretty tense, but turned out that was the least of my worries... such a roll call of disaster in the lead-up to my wedding I wouldn't know where to start if I was telling the tale.

BUT the thing is it all came together on the day, thanks to lovely people like the emergency dressmaker (discovered by complete accident - my mother sent me off for a 'relaxing' aromatherapy massage - ho ho - and masseurs wife was a dressmaker!). We had a lovely, fabulous, gorgeous wedding and I felt like a princess all day. And have the photos to proveit!

edam · 30/04/2008 21:09

Meant to say, I hope it's a reassuring story - that even in the midst of disaster upon disaster, you can still have the most wonderful day of your life (this was pre-ds).

NappiesGalore · 30/04/2008 21:14

oh yes, your mum was right. other dress is lovely and looks fab, but is not a wedding dress. the dress is much better - you look amazing in it.

TillyScoutsmum · 30/04/2008 21:32

like these shoes

too sprakly ?

think these are my faves

Wheelybug · 30/04/2008 22:31

ooh yes first dress is great but the new one is 'wow' and more weddingy without being a wedding dress if that makes sense. You'll look fab !

Purplepillow · 30/04/2008 22:41

The dress is gorgeous slur

I hope you and your soon to be dh have a fabulous day

Seasider · 30/04/2008 22:48

You looked great in first dress, but second dress is indeed more bridal and you do look gorgeous. Good Luck on Midsummer's Day.

S1ur · 01/05/2008 00:02

Thank you Seasider, Purplepillow, Wheelybug and Nappies (don't tell my mum - I'll never hear the end of it)

Tilly - thank you but Dune seems to have broken, I'll try tomorrow.

I'm going to put an orchid in my hair I think.

My dd has requested that she wear pink flowers, sigh. What is it with the pink? She doesn't get it from me, or nursery since she doesn't go... mutter I blame BOOKS. I will be dutiful though and anyway she'll look very sweet so hey ho.

No comparison - both dresses are nice but the white one is stunning. Have a lovely, lovely day.

winebeforepearls · 01/05/2008 09:41

You look stunning

Agree about shoes

How about this?

pootleflump · 01/05/2008 09:45

Ooh all of the Dune shoes Tilly linked to are fab! Can't choose a favourite but I'd definitely go with one of them.

You look gorgeous. But I do agree the shoes don't do the dress justice.

Btw, how old is your dd? If still teeny, our flower girls carried teddy bears, with a pretty ribbon round their necks. They looked soooo cute, and the teddy kept them occupied in church. Ignore this if dd is older than about 6

Hope you have a lovely lovely day.

LaDiDaDi · 01/05/2008 09:52

Beautiful dress, you will look every inch the gorgeous bride, especially with some strappy silver shoes .
