Soft running clothes you can actually run in but not too expensive

Does anyone have any recommendations please? I have asked dp for these for Christmas for motivation to start running regularly. I’m five foot four and size twelve. I don’t want to have ones with cashmere or anything but ones that feel soft.

Try original culprit for leggings, you’ll find them on Instagram. The leggings are amazingly soft.
The tops are not supportive enough for me for running in but the sets are lovely.

I also love Athleta, a US brand now available through GAP. They have a great range of stuff.
Pricey but I have a running jacket from them which is fab and some of the their leggings and casual wear.

Mizuno has a lot of great running clothes you can check out.

Definitely Gym King. So super soft I keep running my hands across my thighs 😂😂 I love how the leggings and tops feel. I'm not an athlete so I can't say I know the category inside out though!

Whodrankmytea · 01/01/2025 07:05

I love my Sweaty Betty leggings which I bought in their sale. I spend money on running shoes but otherwise my tops are all cheap ones.

WinterFoxes · 01/01/2025 07:40

Those Amazon leggings that got popular on here a few months ago. Super soft, about £8, wash really well. Incredible value.

WinterFoxes · 01/01/2025 07:41

Also BAM in the sale. I have some very soft long sleeved sports tops from there. Ideal for outdoor sport in winter.

FeelinTwentySixPointTwo · 01/01/2025 07:46

I really don't like BAM to run in as when they get wet, they stay wet for ages. Also, in my experience, they lose their softness quite quickly.

Also wouldn't recommend SB if you're after something soft. Their SuperSoft and Power leggings are fantastic, but too warm to run in in anything other than very cold temperatures. I do love Powers but not for running in.

Honestly, the best comfortable, soft, and durable running kit I've ever come across is RonHill. And decathlon if you're after something cheaper.

Owly11 · 01/01/2025 07:48

Sweaty betty is good and their running shorts have good support and zip pockets which is good for your phone. They have loads of different colours and styles so you can get something good in the sale. I don't like ronhill because they never seem to have pockets in the right place or of the right size.

FeelinTwentySixPointTwo · 01/01/2025 08:03

Ah you see, I like my SB running shorts overall, but can't ever use the pockets aside from for a key, because they're at the sides rather than at the back.
My RonHill running shorts have a nice large flat zip pocket at the back that works for a key and gels, whereas if I used the SB ones for anything with any weight I'd be lopsided (as they're at the side).
SB are mainly a fashion brand though, whereas Ronhill are designed for running. If I'm going any proper distance I'll have a pack on anyway, for water, so that will do for carrying my phone.
Those "leg" pockets SB Powers have for phones are fine for the gym but obviously not ideal for running in.
I'm sure both brands have different styles though.

Lucy locket loves, I buy my running kit from there. It's on facebook

värskekapsas · 01/01/2025 08:18

i also came to say amazon leggings, they are so buttery soft I have 5 pairs! ideal for running

eurochick · 01/01/2025 08:29

I swear by Ronhill for running. They last and last.

I'm interested in the Amazon leggings though. Can anyone link them?

Thank you!

DreadPirateRobots · 01/01/2025 09:07

I don't really understand what you mean by "soft". All fitness wear is pretty soft but if you go too far into fuzzy the material isn't going to wick sweat or be any good in the rain. There's a reason why yoga leggings are typically a different material than running leggings. Is there a reason you're focusing on softness particularly?

I'm such a sheep. New leggings purchased from Amazon.

Thank you! They look great. How's the sizing?

Quite generous. You definitely don't need to go one size up. They are very soft and stretchy but not transparent (the black ones, anyway.)

Iamblossom · 01/01/2025 14:50

I've bought 2 pairs of these from Amazon very soft, love them
