Cardigans on Men - so wrong

Some blokes wore cardis in the 80s and I never liked then then. Now they are back again with the 80s revival and every time I see one I still shudder.

They are one of the most unmanly items of clothing, don't you think?

no i like them - i keep trying to get my 14 year old in one. he'd look groovy.

dp would look like a grandad though.

Hulababy · 30/04/2008 17:29

They look fine on tall thin men - a bit of a geeky type look IYKWIM.

Anyone with any bit of extra flesh - no!

MargaretMountford · 30/04/2008 17:30

they're a bit David Platt

ahundredtimes · 30/04/2008 17:30

I like too. I like in all categories:

  1. aimless, dreamy drippy guy of any age.
  1. the skinny young ones Cod talks of
  1. The v. fit male model in cardigan with male bag.

I think they look good.

TillyScoutsmum · 30/04/2008 17:30

I'm not a big fan - unfortunately dp is (and he's not skinny or indie)

BecauseImWorthIt · 30/04/2008 17:31

DS1 (16) is skinny, indie type and he looks fab in his.

He buys/chooses them himself and has a lovely, cashmere (cheap) one from Uniqlo.

cornsilk · 30/04/2008 17:33

Jarvis Cocker could do cardigans. Not many men can. Too Val Doonican.

DarrellRivers · 30/04/2008 17:35

DH looks fab in his
tall, slim, slightly (vvslightly i hasten to add) media looking

i like this one ooh i love american apparel

pointydog · 30/04/2008 17:53

oh no! Cardi crazies abound.

Even a skinny indie bloke would look 50 times better in any other kind of top. They are limp and wet.

southeast, look at that poor man's face. Just look. He's not happy.

I've noticed the pink ones in shop windows. Dh wore them - misguidedly - in the 80s as a young indie type. Really put me off. I was always washing me hair the weekends he had a cardi on his back.

southeastastra · 30/04/2008 17:59

he looks like that in all the pictures, i think he just has that one look

hairy chest cardy (check out the black and white one hehe)

pointydog · 30/04/2008 18:02

that's a shocker

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 30/04/2008 18:07

Ah they have had these in fashion pages for years and the only men I ever see in them are on Old Compton Street or at indie gigs.

yurt1 · 30/04/2008 18:07

I like them.
Did in the 80's too.

The hairychest cardi is frightening though.

pointydog · 30/04/2008 18:08

maybe mn is a cardi sort of world

OP posts:
Lenniegirl · 30/04/2008 18:08

No, they're cool.

pointydog · 30/04/2008 21:24

They really turn my stomach. I am surprised to be in such a minority.

From cardis it's a small step to man bags.
