Tights - holy grail tights

MsXmasGGMasterTwat · 08/12/2024 12:14

I'm a size 16, inside leg 32". I'm absolutely fed up of buying tights that don't fit me properly or stay up, or roll over at the waist.

I used to love Autograph opaques in a XL. They used to fit me perfectly, enough room but not too much, no nora batty effect by lunchtime, no rolling over at the waist, long enough in the leg. That seems to have changed.

Can anyone recommend somewhere to buy XL opaques that are decent quality that might fit someone with long legs and an ample backside, thanks.

I have found snag black opaques a good fit for me, they have a different sizing system but a good sizing guide on their website.

User364837 · 08/12/2024 12:15

I’m not sure about my inside leg but I’m a 16-18 and 5’3”

Sirzy · 08/12/2024 12:16

I find snag tights best

MsXmasGGMasterTwat · 08/12/2024 12:17

Thanks, I'll take a look. I'm 5'8, sorry, didn't think about height, was just thinking leg length.

My holy grail tights are Heist. You need to use their size guide and if necessary go larger rather than smaller but they are amazing and indestructible.

impressivelycunty · 08/12/2024 12:20

Heist... I tried Snag and they rolled down and were pretty baggy. Heist are expensive but last forever

Fedupandstressed · 08/12/2024 12:22

I used to love Snag, until their pretty grim marketing campaigns.

I use Better Tights now. They last longer as well.

IndustrialActionAhoy · 08/12/2024 12:23

I don't rate snag tights at all. I quite like Boots opaques, I just tend to size up to make sure they're comfortable.

Doggymummar · 08/12/2024 12:24

Heist are the best in my opinion. Bit more expensive but I have has some for years without a hole or ladder. Also the fleece lined ones on Amazon are great for this season.

MsXmasGGMasterTwat · 08/12/2024 12:31

Thank you all, I'll try a pair of 80 denier Heist (and threaten DC with 👻if they put them in the flipping dryer).

I can't size up @IndustrialActionAhoy , my leg length at a size 16 means I need XL off the high st to begin with.

I love snag- discovered their tights a couple of years ago and would never look that. Before then I liked M&S but accidentally put an old pair of the M&S ones on the other day, and they felt awful compared to the snag ones I am now used to!

EatTheBastard · 08/12/2024 12:56

Wolford - expensive but excellent quality. Last for ever (with care). All different sizes - just use their sizing guide

GingerLiberalFeminist · 08/12/2024 13:05

Popsy tights were my saviour when I reached out a few months ago on here. They fit well, don't bag or thread and aren't going to cost the earth.

I'm 5'9" 14/16

EBearhug · 08/12/2024 13:11

M&S have been good, as they come in different sizes. I haven't bought any in a while, though, as I don't wear dresses/skirts so much, and things can always change.

Danceswithweasels · 08/12/2024 13:26

I used to love M&S too but I find Snag so much better. I am size 18 with 33 inch inside leg. I have Snag tights that are 5 years old and still going strong, they come right up above my waist and they don't fall down. I especially love the footless ones to wear with long boots or under joggers when WFH in the winter. Their website is very "diverse" and I opt out of the marketing emails.

fivebyfivebuffy · 08/12/2024 13:27

Snag or better tights
I'm 5ft 10 and a 16/18 and they're the first tights that aren't either ridiculously tight over my thighs or the crotch is at knee height!

MsXmasGGMasterTwat · 08/12/2024 13:42

Thanks, I've ordered from Heist and will see what I think. Searching for Wolford brought up Falke, I'd forgotten about Falke, I used to buy Falke tights before click and collect at the local M&S food store became so easy.

My holy grail tights are Falke and Wolford. Both stay out so I don't have to constantly hoik them up. I've tried M&S and they didn't work for me.

TryingAgainAgainAgain · 08/12/2024 15:30

The quality of Snag has nosedived recently, and their customer service is awful at responding to problems.

Woolford and Falke still excellent.

HaddyAbrams · 08/12/2024 15:34

I used to be a huge snag fan. I have the opposite problem though and have really short legs. Snag quality has gone downhill.

So I bought 'better' tights as everyone on here always claims they are amazing and will still fit. They are about 6 inches too long. But they are comfy.

Haroldwilson · 08/12/2024 15:35

Agree snag have gone downhill. I have some chub rub shorts (made of tights material) I bought about ten years ago, bought some more this year and you can really tell that the quality has gone downhill.

Netcam · 08/12/2024 15:35

Mine are Falke merino, they're actually a merino/cotton mix. The only tights I wear. I tend to buy them on Amazon when they are on offer for around £20 and stock up. I have various colours I've accumulated over the years.

Oreosareawful · 08/12/2024 15:38

I wouldn’t touch Snag with a barge pole after seeing their marketing campaigns.

Binman · 08/12/2024 15:42

Have you tried John Lewis velvet touch? I haven't bought tights for years because the JL's fit so well and last so well so hopefully they haven't changed their format. They are as cheap as M&S too.

90yomakeuproom · 08/12/2024 15:46

Snag snag definitely snag
Why does everyone have an issue with their marketing? Because it's erotic?
