Bed jackets

My mum wants a bed jacket for Christmas but she says she doesn’t want one that “looks like it is for an old lady”. I have no idea where to look and hadn’t heard of a bed jacket before this conversation. Any ideas?

I wear a zip up cotton sweatshirt for that purpose - I think it's a mens one i got it in tk maxx.
I loathe sleeping in anything polyester

I am 70. I have 2 options I enjoy. Number 1, currently in use, a smallish soft fleece blanket. Quilt pulled up under arms; blanket cuddled around arms and neck. (needs to be small and manoeuvrable). Number 2, A slanket, blanket with sleeves (currently in use on the sofa).
The advantage of bothe is that they can e pulled on or off without having to get it from behind me.

Bed jackets seem to be of three types : modern and fleecy; vintage and crochet or vintage slinky/glamorous.

IMHO the first is ugly, warm and old lady (I'm 70 so allowed to say this)
Vintage and crochet can be worn in a spirit of irony, are warm so might bypass the OL stigma.
Vintage and slinky are very nice but not warm.

It all depends on what the OP's mum wants.

I think this would be too hot on me...but easy to take off

I've ordered that one in the green, it's lovely.

@MrsDrDear , hope your hospital stay goes well. I don’t know if this helps but when I am sitting up in bed reading or having a cup of tea I put my dressing gown on backwards, so my arms are in the sleeves but the back of the dressing gown is covering my front. Not elegant, but does the trick.

Snap!! I’m going exactly that now! 😂

My mother would love one of these too but she is tiny, only about a size 6 and very old, thanks so much for all the links, I want one myself too now.

doodles55 · 06/12/2024 22:36

I’m ordering none, just reminiscing of my darling granny.thank you

BigDahliaFan · 07/12/2024 08:14

I'm sitting in bed drinking tea after trying to salvage the back gate in the storm....and wishing I had a bed jacket. Possibly one with feathers so I could channel my inner 40s film star. In reality the cat would eat it and the dog be scared of it.

ItsDdayalloveragain · 07/12/2024 15:05

I’m buying my mum this one.
