* Please avoid dropping hints or spoilers about future contents if you have opened the calendar in advance. * (Edited at request of the OP by MNHQ)

It is one sleep away! We’ve all been very patient, since Liberty London revealed their advent calendar in June this year.

Reveals from 7am GMT each morning please. This is to harmonise discussion/shift work/different time zones.

@mynameiscalypso yes I've just read it. Tonka candle might burn dangerously so please dispose of it. They are sending everyone £25 to compensate.
Mine seemed fine and it's finished but I will admit the flame was quite high sometimes.

mynameiscalypso · 19/12/2024 18:12

I haven't lit my yet but I'm now really tempted to do so to see what happens!

I’ve been lurking on this thread rather than posting but I got Reunion and would be delighted to swap for Red And Blue. It’s still unopened - I can take a picture tonight if you’re interested. 🙂

Do you want to message me your details and we can exchange?

GreatFinch · 19/12/2024 18:14

Mine seems fine but hats off to them for the way they're handling the issue.

nearly61 · 19/12/2024 18:18

@mynameiscalypso maybe pop it into a container and use it away from anything overhanging? It was a gorgeous scent and I'm glad I used mine before they discovered this as I'd be totally torn!!

Same!

lostonadustyrock · 19/12/2024 18:45

I just told my wife who was the one at home when the candle finished and she said ‘I did think it burnt quite quickly!’

BakeOffRewatch · 19/12/2024 19:10

What does burn unsafely mean? It was one of my DODs so I took it out and used it during a couple of daily baths near the end of my pregnancy. The week after I measured high for carbon monoxide, the midwife said the level was what she’d expect if I lived on a really busy main road like the north south circular, I asked if it could be the candle during 20min baths she said unlikely. I haven’t used the candle since.

Yes it’s nice of them to give a voucher, but with a toddler and a baby I’d rather their quality control was better so that I can completely trust their products to be safe. I’m not actually annoyed or anything, just sharing my thoughts on the matter. It’s one of the reasons it’s a DOD for me I don’t feel comfortable having candles around the house, and only used it in the tiled bathroom.

How will they contact people who bought it in store?

Most stores I've bought from recently (and definitely the posh ones) ask for an email address. It's a bit of a PITA sometimes but I can see it's useful in cases like this.

cherrypiesally · 19/12/2024 20:30

For those that haven’t burnt their candles yet and love the smell it might be possible to cut the candle up and burn in a wax burner so still get to benefit from it. A bit of a faff but probably worth it; might need to smash the jar to get it out.

jay55 · 19/12/2024 20:43

I'm delighted at the voucher coming. I'd not even taken the candle out the drawer yet.

ACAC2023 · 19/12/2024 20:48

Thanks for the heads up! I’ve not lit it yet and just saw the email. I got £20 discount as a Beauty Drop member too, so makes the Calendar even better value

Londonexhile · 19/12/2024 21:02

I haven't had an email yet! Has everyone had one?

Wherethewildthingsfart · 19/12/2024 21:10

I used my candle during the storm when we had no power and had no issues so not sure whether to continue using or not?!

The voucher will be great though.

Todays perfume seemed an odd choice considering the size of the drawer Grin

gateacre1 · 19/12/2024 22:09

I noticed the flame of my candle flame was quite sooty earlier this week and I wondered if it was because the wick was too long. Glad to be following this thread for the heads up about the candle. The perfume today is beautiful .

Waffles21 · 19/12/2024 22:32

Liberty have managed the whole candle issue very well I think, not great for the brand though! I’ve not used mine and it will be going straight into the bin! I absolutely love today’s perfume too, if anyone wants to swap theirs with me for either of the others, let me know!

notnorman · 19/12/2024 22:38

I took a photo of my candle in order to complain (then totally forgot) as the wick is far too big for the size of candle. The wick is for a 30cl (I'm a candle maker) and that is 10cl at the most (prob more like .7)
I'm glad they've recognised it too.

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 19/12/2024 23:18

I don’t think it’s great when you get a voucher to compensate for a faulty item. Particularly as Liberty is mega-expensive anyway and many of their brands are somewhat niche. I don’t think I would find anything worth purchasing for £25 and would need to spend more money with them in order to use my voucher.

goingslightlyinsane · 19/12/2024 23:25

@AppleDumplingWithCustard I agree! Mine was a gift, I'm not going to ask the person who gifted me it for the £25voucher. That's just a bit cringe.

That’s what my DH says whenever they send me a voucher like the £5 on your birthday . He says they’ve got your number and now you’ll spend £100!

Greywhippet · 19/12/2024 23:34

I didn’t get a perfume today! Something different … mix up?

Isabelle70 · 20/12/2024 07:06

I hope the voucher has a good date on it. I am not in the UK and won't be in London until July. If not it will cost me £15 to have anything posted!
I did visit the store last week and used my £5 birthday credit and £10 from a faulty perfume on a lined notebook.

ProjectsGalore · 20/12/2024 07:17

Surely it is easy to just trim the wick. That's normal for a candle anyway. Most advice to trim the wick before burning. I will try that with mine and report back!

Wherethewildthingsfart · 20/12/2024 07:40

@notnorman can we just trim it?

I am eager to try todays, I am hoping to become an ageless beauty.
