After saying I was unhappy with the £10 refund as there was 5 short dated items between the two boxes I recieved as well as the obvious false advertising they said I could return them so I asked if they would be paying the return postage as the fault is theirs and they have ignored me since this morning. I'm really quite miffed so I have started a trust pilot for them.

pinkchampagne1 · 16/12/2024 17:30

It is the bargain Christmas thread

Puravida23 · 16/12/2024 17:38

I would insist they pay for postage @pinkchampagne1 I actually think their advertising was illegal under the unfair trading laws see attached. . Although this is pure speculation by me but seems to hit the brief.I would be quoting these to them and insisting they at least pay postage for any returns I actually thought the company had realised this and that is why they settled so quickly with the rest of us so quite surprised they have switched to hard ball again . Maybe they didn't realise there was going to be quite so many complaints I think it's laughable that they think you could just buy a gift box. Never mind that, how about BB just sends out what it was advertising and then there would be no complaints. They seem to forget this mess is their making

@LivinInYourBigGlassHouseWithAView that is such a rude reply you received.
Very unprofessional.
The ads were claiming it was the ideal for gifting to teachers etc (I can't remember the exact wording, but my understanding was that you can just pick whatever you want and gift it).
You can't gift samples marked as not for re-sale, it would be really embarrassing. The individual samples are not the same as the discovery kit in presentation.
It's like someone giving me some fancy individual tea bags instead of a minis mix of tea bags from Fortnum & Mason as a small attention gift for Christmas.
Very shoddy customer service after such a bad miss representation of contents.

TreesinthePark · 16/12/2024 18:00

I would say the BBC team are naiive, uneducated on trading standards and a little incompetent if I were being brutally honest. But also definitely not fraudulent or malicious.

I think they are a out of their depth in terms of the type of customers they now have and the level of customer service we expect.

Branster · 16/12/2024 18:09

@TreesinthePark I agree with you, I don't think they are doing anything fraudulent.
And I appreciate they are a small company.
But surely they must know they can't miss lead customers, this is lying. And the customer is always right, why the sometimes abrupt replies as shared on here.
I can't find the Christmas thread (because I don't really know how to use this app for searching).

diamondsandrose · 16/12/2024 18:13

Why would you buy a gift box for a friend to put perfumes marked "sample not for resale" on them ?
No thanks ..how about sending what you know fine well you advertised .

When I had my issues with them the main problem out of many was the rudeness. When I mentioned it on here there were a couple of posters who seemed to jump to the defence at everything I said . I can literally screen shot the CS email response and post it here , I have the proof in black and white .
They are awful. Rude and unprofessional. Very amateur set up in my opinion , I would not give them a penny.

I think I agree with you. I get the impression that they were a very small company until recently and have expanded quite quickly and probably faster than they can cope with. I bought my first boxes this time last year and was SO impressed with the contents but I think things have gone downhill quickly in the last few months. I have said in the past that I found customer service really good when I wanted to return a box in the summer, but some of their replies to people's emails over the last few days and the inconsistency of how they are offering to put things right is really poor .

Puravida23 · 16/12/2024 21:00

On Saturday BB seemed to be handling the problem correctly. They recognised the issue and offered a resolution so I am not sure why they have now deviated from this today. I agree I think they are a small business who made a mistake in their advertising nothing more but they need to go into Recognise and Resolve mode not trying to dismiss or gaslight their customers otherwise this will just run and run and do more damage to the company reputation

Youreabadbanana · 16/12/2024 21:36

Unless the company is being run single handedly then I can't fathom how this is just a mistake. I didn't order but I did get the email. I made an order years ago but was concerned as products weren't sealed or in original boxes, I decided not to order again.
The email and advertising for the recent box was definitely false, this misled alot of people to order. This error should have been picked up by the company, why wasn't the advertising pulled? How did it get the ok in the first place? I can only think it's a company being run by one person from their bedroom.

IlovePond · 17/12/2024 08:18

@Branster - there were previous posts about people being unhappy, page 14 - there’s a long post in response to people who were unhappy and most recently page 26 onwards in the thread.

IlovePond · 17/12/2024 08:43

@pinkchampagne1 - someone on the other thread has just posted that they got a slightly more polite version of the ‘buy your own box, idiot’ email in the summer when they complained about not getting the CT discovery set.

This means that BBC were well aware of what they were doing and that some people weren’t happy six months ago.

Someone on the other thread has also created a TP page for BBC so people can post reviews. No guarantee that the company still won’t get them removed, but worth a try. (This happened to me with a different company earlier in the year - awful CS, I left a polite and factual one star review. Company complained. TP asked me for proof, which I provided, but it still got removed and the awful holiday company still has a ‘clean sheet’.)

TP is better than nothing, though. Here’s the link:

Just spotted the shower gel and body lotion that a lot of us got as a substitute in the BBB have an expiry of April 25.

How long does it take you to use Showergel?

Oreyt · 17/12/2024 10:38

Sorry meant add 😂😂😂

diamondsandrose · 17/12/2024 10:44

@Oreyt not really the point ... lots of us have stashes and use on a last in , first to be used system !

Plus as a gift I would not give that . To me it's a short date.

The products I had from them when opened , were expired. They would not accept this despite me sending photos as they "did not have expiry dates shown in your photos"

Well maybe not but I have a working sense of smell !

diamondsandrose · 17/12/2024 10:45

Edit I think I mean longest ago in... you know what I mean 🤣🤣

stanleypops66 · 17/12/2024 10:58

I got dd the Sephora one (as part of their overall Xmas present as it was pricey at £300). It's fab though, lots of great full sized products from Neom, Charlotte tilbury, dermatologica).

I am glad that a TB page for BB has been set up. It is awful that they remove any negative reviews on their site.

I have got another response from them after my follow up email saying that I wasn’t prepared to cover the cost of returns after already paying £5 postage. I said I had used them in the past but would think twice about using them again after this last experience.
Today I received another email from them saying they would pass my email to one of their founders and arrange pick up and then a refund. Funny how they changed their tune once they found out I wouldn’t order from them again

IlovePond · 17/12/2024 21:47

Hope it gets sorted @pinkchampagne1 - well done for pushing back!

I bought this on Sunday when there was an extra 10% off. Looks to be out of stock now.

https://www.lookfantastic.com/p/beauty-box/lookfantastic-premium-beauty-edit-2024-worth-over-225/14237323/?variation=14237323

Slight impulse purchase but I bought mainly for the Medik8 which I use anyway and my current bottle will be empty by the end of the month.

Was also keen to try the Clé de Peau Beauté Eye Contour Cream. I love a posh eye cream, I know it's only 2ml but small amounts of eye cream actually last quite well.

Have never tried anything from Caudalie either. The other stuff I'll probably sell or pass on.

Bit gutted. After a lot of delaying LF have cancelled this order. They sent apologies and said they tried to source more items but couldn't fulfil it. Very disappointed as I wanted the Medik8 and the eye cream.

I suppose I didn't need any of it but was hoping it would still come.

Copied from a deals newsletter:

Worth £405!*
You usually have to spend £50 on Estee Lauder products to get the chance to buy this gift set for £85, but I’ve spotted that you can now buy the gift set on its own without any minimum spend. Woohoo!
The set is worth £405 and all of the 11 products are full-size so it’s a friggin’ brilliant deal with a huge saving!
Included in the set is two of their most popular products.- Advanced Night Repair Gel Eye Cream (worth £56) and Advanced Night Repair Serum (worth £65). So just those two products alone are worth more than £85.
Deal Stack
If you want to save even more money, go via TopCashback to get a whopping 15% cashback (approx £10) and load any offers onto your Advantage Card (for example, I have £4 of points when I spent £40). This would save you approx £14!
Note: You could buy a Boots gift card too from an app like Cheddar or Everup to get more cashback online, but as TopCashback is boosted to 15% I’d personally not want to risk that not tracking so I would do TopCashback only if I was buying this.
