Would you wear this dress if you were me ?

I'm an hourglass 14/16. I recently bought a beautiful black velvet v neck midi dress in Zara .It's beautiful on except my wide flabby belly sticks out even with skims. It's an x l and stated that it's a small fit but there is no xxl. I'd love to wear it but would possibly be self conscious even though the velvet is forgiving.
What could I do to hide my belly ? I'd hate to return it. It's perfect in every other way .

Good god please don’t go draping a scarf around your neck to try and disguise your stomach!
Either front it out and wear with confidence or return it.
I have bought things before that I’ve felt self conscious in and never worn them but only you know how you feel in it. If you’re going to be pulling at the fabric all night and sitting down to hide your stomach just get something you feel more comfortable in and enjoy yourself.

I am wearing what could be termed a body con dress with a tummy and although it’s not easy I just decided to get on with it.

My stomach is like this and I find that high waisted, mid thigh shapewear works best - the knicker type doesn't sufficiently flatten the lower part of my stomach. Not sure if you’ve tried that type?

No I wouldn't. I don't think I could get my head through the neck hole.
Unless there is a big zip down the back.
(or front, I'm not picky.)
